I'm using window 11. What about you? Also although they says that win 11 supports rar, however, extract all does not work for the file. And had to use peazip or 7z
Win 10, WinRAR software for unpacking. Master Commander for general copying.

Copying the archive takes seconds. Unpacking or copying the unpacked thing takes an hour, of which about 30s is sounds. It's the thousands of tiny images and terrain files that take the longest.

Please consider also using peazip or 7-zip. The former is multiplatform, but the latter is considerably fast, it's also developed by a russian coder (Igor Pavlov). Personally i use the latter, very very quick.

Same here. When I use 7z, it's even worst. Didn't finished after 6 hours.

Guess if next time still using rar, I will not want to waste my time unpacking it. Probably have to abandon the HD version unless someone zip/7z it for me

7zip did not finish unpacking after 6 hours. peazip takes about 1 hour+ and I doubt that the file is corrupt as otherwise, the checksum shall be different

Well, just tested; .7z did the job in less than a minute. No issues.

I tried again today, intending to get the screenshot that the unpacking takes more than 15 minutes.

However, today, the unpacking by both 7zip and peazip takes less than 1 minute.

The only differences is that the rar file is recovered from recycle bin but that shalln't impact anything.

The other thing I can think of is Window patch fixed the issue as recalled last night, there's a window update.
Does it still happens to you Mathel?

Just downloaded the new version to replace the old one, and on my decade old PC it came to about 1-2 minutes of unpacking.

My experience is that I cannot unzip it from one harddrive to another, it will take ages (I have expensive new PC with two very fast NVMe SSD drives - still wrong way for me to do it).
Also subfolders (stupid windows "C:/user/....../download/" folder) could by a problem - try to copy zip file into root (C:/ for example), right clik on it and unzip into folder (name of the zip file).

I think it does not matter too much about the SW you using for opening the zip or 7z container, it is more about the windows and HW actual status (I guess cuplrit are some buffers, access rights,... and other windows vs harddiscs magic, like UAC, defender, or other (anti)vyrus,...).

For me sometimes happen that it very fast unzip 50% and then it slow down to take few seconds for each file. Then I just cancel it, start the same procedure again, skip already unziped files so it will continue from those they arenĀ“t unziped yet. Sometime I have to do it like 2-3 times to complete it, but it is still in 2-3 minutes.

I long time ago create branch that allow RGB sprites but OXCE will never use this.
OXCE fully embrace 8bit graphic. Even loading RGB and then converting to 8bit was dropped in OXCE.

It's a fourth path, focused on catgirl soldiers (and relations with the Nekomimi government).

Are there any unique advantages to the cat girls as sodiers? I remember using one for stealth and melee, but even at high ranks, she wasn't much better than my other high-ranking uber girls.

Comparing cat girls with ubers is inappropriate. No matter what path you choose ubers (and later ogres) will be your main strength. You should compare cat girls with other supplementary units like peasants and men. Some cat girls advantages are:
  • Grav-boots. With +60 TU in combination with natural high reaction a cat girls can run out of cover, kill near by enemies with sword, and return back to cover without receiving reaction fire.
  • Unipuma. Indivisibility is great. You can't produce unupumas, but you will get some. Remember about sniper-spotters, though!
  • Piloting skills. After you will have enough ubers to not rely on supplementary units you trained cat girls can pilot your craft with ~+50% to all stats.

Other advantages include getting access to special Nekomimi equipment, such as the Ironcat armour (which allows you to turn your catgirls into sort of heavy infantry), golden weapons and a unique landing craft (good and early, but expensive).
