A lot of people have pointed out the fantastic music used in our trailer. Sadly, I can’t take any credit for it, as I stole borrowed it from the now defunct UFO: Cydonia’s Fall project, with soundtrack made by Lorcán.
So wait, is that it? You’ll never get to hear it again? Well don’t forget, you can use Custom Music with OpenXcom! So you can totally play it with the UFO:CF soundtrack! Or if nostalgia is more your thing, the PSX and Amiga soundtracks are also up for grabs! Just check the Download Extras for more details.
Edit: Freelanzer has very kindly given us the UFO Cydonia’s Fall soundtrack all packaged up and ready for OpenXcom! You can get it here.
Hmm… searching the forum for “custom music” I found a link to a wiki entry:
But apparently its not there anymore.
So How do you do it? Change put the same name of the game songs but with and .ogg / .mp3 extension?
Yesterday I was listening to the OST from System Shock 2 and some of those tracks would work rather well as geoscape or battlescape music. 🙂
Yes, you just have to put them in with the same filename as the originals. Fixed the wiki link: https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=Audio_Options_(OpenXcom)#Custom_Music
You can also get pre-packaged music packs ready to go here: http://users.atw.hu/xcom-sounds/

Would love to see Munt support integrated so that it could play the Roland CM-32 soundtrack from the DOS version.
This is the only thing better about playing via DOSBox Turbo on Android.
Someone’s working on getting genuine Roland recordings: https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php?topic=2270.0

One stupid question: where should I put the .ogg files?
In OpenXcom\data\sound.
The gmenbase.ogg file is wrong in the music pack of UFO: CF. I have contacted with Lorcan about missing gmenbase.ogg in the past and he give me his original file. And btw., the proper name of CF is without apostrophe. Just look what answer I got from Lorcan:
“The correct spelling is : UFO: Cydonias Fall (without the apostrophe)
We had few confusions regarding the ‘ since Cydonias sounds like a person’s name but it’s not 🙂
Even the author of the game project sometimes mispelled its name (that’s him who made the mistake in the readme file)”
Lorcan’s working on a remastered version that will fix that and more, stay tuned. 😉
The apostrophe rule applies to any noun, not just people’s names (see here. If the meaning is supposed to be “UFO: The Fall of Cydonia”, then “UFO: Cydonia’s Fall” is correct.
“Lorcan’s working on a remastered version that will fix that and more, stay tuned. ;)”
COOL! I’m ready for his awesome skill in making music 🙂
