Honestly, can't really blame how unrealistic Wakanda is in the movie. This is marvel we are talking about; where 50% of the universe's inhabitants can be snuffed out with the snap of a finger and giant cosmic demigods devour whole planets.

I guess if they departed just a bit from the Black Panther lore from the comic books, they could have made a better movie.  :P

Yeah, I find the Well Wisher really sinister once I first got a hold of Purple Flower's recipes. Those "sentient" golems (aka Magical Girls) arrive in their little ships with... among other things, recipes that I assume show you how to turn their fleshy parts into magical cake. I chuckled a little since it reminds me of that old Asian proverb of "a duck comes bearing green onions."

I'm really enjoying your mods, Ivan. You can't imagine how much time you've saved me with the Soldier Type Statstrings mod. And now, my gals can have fancy kill decorations next to their name too.

Thanks a ton for the info, Solarius, I still have quite a bit to learn I see. I enjoy the fact that huge mods like Piratez and X-Com Files develop their stories and aren't just shooting recolored Sectoids with retextured plasma guns, they have so much more going for them. I've only gotten a few of the ancient logs throughout my playthroughs, since I'm mostly focused on getting useful tech first before the factions come and stomp my ass (because I'm a masochist who only plays on Superhuman/Jack Sparrow difficulty in ironman mode).  :P

It's great that you do, and I hope to see a lot more from you! But Im afraid this one is contrary to the existing lore. You have painted Osiron as a slave force to the Academy, but in fact they have a mutual agreement. Yes, the Osiron goes where the Academicians go, but they are more like permanently hired bodyguards. No, actually it is more akin to marriage (of the organisations of course, not of individual members). A very long term contract.
So if Academicians tell Osiron men to, say, guard an installation, then they will, because it is part of their eternal agreement. But if an Academician tried to mistreat them, they would lash back as a monolith. It's an ancient order of macho warriors after all, with decent understanding of honour and duty. The Academicians may have Espers, but Osiron has guns, lots of them. And both sides understand their relationship very well.

Oh, thanks for the clarifications, Solarius! Come to think of it, I totally forgot about the ancient log for the Osirons, and I wasn't sure if the Piratez Osirons would have the same beginnings as X-Com Apocalypse Osirons. The ones from X-Com Apocalypse were definitely hard core gangsters that meant business. Do the Osirons from your X-Com Files mod have the same beginnings/lore as well? I have not gotten too far into X-Com Files yet.  :)

I write stories as a hobby, so whenever I see things like this I get this need to develop and flesh out lore.  :)

So, about a day ago, I was pondering over why the Osiron Security is so passive until someone who is not Osiron "spots" for them. Then the idea hit me after reading some of the lore Dioxine created.

Imagine you're a male soldier working for the Academy, you've most likely been brainwashed into obedience by local Espers and forced to watch Holovids of old-world training exercises, never really getting into as many real combat situations like some of the other factions. You're at the beck and call of a parasitic matriarchal faction who demands total subservience and likely "experiments" on you whenever you do something they find unsatisfactory. It's no wonder why the Osirons seem so hesitant to take action into their own hands while other Academy staff/drones are present; they're totally reliant on the commands of their superiors.

I've noticed while playing that after all of the "spotters" are killed, the Osiron Security AI changes and they begin to attack on their own. Pretty neat!

Here is the modified ruleset (using the recently released 0.99J2 version) that removes the Berserk armor from Furiosa's research requirements. Everything should be good, but let me know if there are any errors (if you're using Windows, copy piratez.rul into "Dioxine_XPiratez_0_99_J2\Dioxine_XPiratez\user\mods\Piratez\Ruleset").

Thanks for the tips, I never knew shields were vulnerable to EMP damage! With the recent game update, is there any information in-game (bootypedia) about how shields work, or do I have to search these forums for that info?

So, playing Jack Sparrow mode (With Ironman), I was doing pretty good with 17 months into the game. I suddenly get a Star God Crackdown on my main base and I'm like "OK, this is gonna be a tough one, but I reckon I can get this, these are my main girls. I got two tanks, Heavy Slug Throwers, Tons of Proxy grenades and EMP grenades for the single Sectopod they bought with them."

Spoiler:
"Oh wait... the Star God Guardians are shimmering in this new version now... FUCK, they ALL have shields now like the Guild Master!" I ping one with three heavy slug shells, it... disabled his shield, but the guardian was still alive.

I was taken off guard by the new Star Guardian Shields, so I was shit out of luck, and lost my main base. I might need to drop the difficulty down to Davy Jones since the random Star God crackdowns are no fun (and I use to be able to handle them by a fair amount in previous versions). Oh well!  :P

How have some of you dealt with the changes to some of the Star Gods during the mid game?

It is no problem, Solarius! I'm just reporting a little hiccup, so it is no biggie. Thanks for the quick-fix entry.  :)

Cavern Hunts are the way to go for easy Rare Earth Elements. Go for [Our Culture] > [Survival] > [Animal Skinning] > [Cavern Hunting]. Make torches and javelins along the way once you research Survival so you can start cave hunting as soon as you get the tech.
Or...
If you want to spend money to get the REEs right away, just research [Visit Nearby Town] > [Call a Meeting] > [Our Culture] and hold on to one of your Rare Earth Elements. Once you reach Our Culture, research the Rare Earth Element so you can start buying them from the shop.

As for the differences between the Blackhat and Pirate outfit, I tend to go for the pirate suit for my high melee girls so they can get to bashing and capturing people for research. I use the Blackhat as my go to for everyday needs, since it gives a boost to many stats. And after that, I go for the rogue on High Bravery gals when I go on night missions, since it makes my gals just a bit harder to see for the AI.

Any advice about Codex choice? Were they changed somehow durning several last versions?

They had a few changes, like having partial domains from other codex's.

Red got Moloch Armor, it's pretty interesting. It can also use the Ghost Dagger now.
Green got an upgrade to the Bio Suit (The Pestulator Suit) and can use some weapons from VOODOO:Destruction, now.
Gold can get the Bio Suit now.
Gray got an upgrade to the Witch Outfit (The Sorceress Outfit).

Check out the wiki for more information on some of these changes:

I think that the Green Codex is really good for how flexible it is:

Miss getting the Reticulant missions or base? Try and nab some demons and get destruction weapons like the Hellgun.
No demons? Start targeting the church and get the Fairy outfit for that awesome Lucky Star stunning damage.
Does the Church seem to not pop up too often? Wait for the Reticulants to show up and aim for that Bio/Saviour suit, then work on that Pestulator Armor.

Basically, unless you're REALLY unlucky, you can nab some awesome stuff with the Green Codex. The only thing it is lacking is Mind Controlling power. But you still get to flex your Voodoo muscles with the demonic weaponry.
