Re: AKSU-74 Acquisition Request - X-COM: PAU

Commander,

The Council has reviewed your request and accepted it. The first shipments of the AKSU-74 are currently en route to our depots at this time. We will provide you with access to the requested weapon once available.

Good luck, Commander. We hope this following year brings further success; we may not have much time left.

Sincerely,
Frank Kirby

Subject: Alien Language Research Report

As we have previously noted, the aliens happen to use some kind of written language to communicate with their followers. This alien language uses a series of symbols arranged in accordance to a simple grammar system to form short messages. At this point, we cannot say if the aliens use it to communicate with each other as well, but we can learn more about the language via their relationship to humans.

X-COM agents had responded to an anonymous tip about a Cult Outpost located somewhere in Northern Australia, which resulted in X-COM having captured two suspects and eliminating the rest. Unfortunately, Agent Carter was killed during the operation and as a result, we are looking for a suitable replacement. As of now, however, it should be noted that the local authorities have locked down the area.

New South Wales Black Lotus Outpost Raided by Police

Police have just raided an outpost in New South Wales earlier today, with at least two suspects being captured so far. The ensuing firefight resulted in the death of one officer. Government officials have currently begun to lock down the site of the outpost for the purposes of identifying the bodies and searching for the locations of other likely Black Lotus locales across Australia. We will update you live as this story unfolds.

According to my Chief Xenologist, this is allegedly the oldest language on Earth, spoken by the so-called "Depth Dwellers". While we cannot verify the claim at this time, we can say that the language is VERY real. It is not only complex; it is more complex than any spoken language currently in use and on top of that, it is a very different language from most other languages. Deciphering said language would take a significant amount of time and resources.

Subject: Black Lotus HQ Investigation Report

As of now, we know very clearly that Black Lotus was established by an extraterrestrial intelligence known only as "The Golden Lady" who can manifest physically through psionic possession of its subjects; much like our Avatar. While we do not know the exact nature of this alien intelligence, what we do know is that this thing can use a psionic amplifier to amplify its mental focus in order to possess people.

This amplifier is located deep inside Black Lotus' HQ inside of a statue resembling the Golden Lady. If we can capture it, we should be able to decipher its signal pattern and find a way to disable the damn thing. This should keep the Golden Lady from being able to manifest and control its servants.

At this moment, we should have sufficient data to locate Black Lotus' HQ, and choose the right time to destroy it. However, we should expect significant opposition once we appear, and we should be prepared for any eventuality. Either way, this is the endgame for Black Lotus. If we win here, they will likely be leaderless.

Werewolves have both human and canine DNA, combined in ways yet to be known to science. They have greatly developed muscles, teeth and claws. On top of that, they also seem to have very large brains, which is an indicator of intelligence and good senses. We should be very careful with this creature, if we ever encounter it again.

Subject: Mutant Physiology Investigation Report

Dr. Von Diese had just reported to me some...rather disturbing, yet interesting things regarding the physiology of these "mutants" based on what we managed to study from the remains of the Werewolf and the knowledge we gained on the Werecat. These things don't show any direct evidence of bioengineering, though they do seem to be designed for a specific purpose. We also managed to identify a previously unknown compound in the creature's bloodstream, which we were unable to cross-reference at all. However, what we do know is that this compound is extremely energetic and may be useful as a type of fuel for the creature. Unfortunately, we can't pursue that path yet due to limited expertise, but it could be useful for improving our existing medical equipment for use in the field.

Re: Request to Upgrade the Mudranger Vehicles

Commander,

After some consideration, we've reviewed your request and granted you the authorisation to make an airborne variant of the Mudranger vehicles. We hope this may prove more useful than the traditional Mudranger.

Good luck, Commander. We hope further success comes from your future operations...especially Black Lotus HQ's destruction.

Sincerely,
Frank Kirby

Subject: Homicidal Soldier Interrogation Report

After some questioning of one of our suspects captured earlier last year, we've managed to gain some insights into the Werewolf, which we believed he was personally able to witness. With what we've seen so far, it is not only a humanoid with very wolf-like features, but it also very aggressive, has ape-like intelligence and highly developed predatory instincts. It doesn't follow orders easily, and if anything, it tends to react in a very hostile manner, as our soldier had personally witnessed when his unit captured one of these things. It also seems to be, according to our soldier, likely of artificial design based on an independent analysis on its genetic structure, this being what likely pushed him into doing what he did.

Subject: Parapsychology Investigation Report

As we've already noted, this is a new field of understanding for humanity. Psionics is a new field for us to get into, but we can begin somewhere. Parapsychology is a start to understanding the exact nature of the aliens' psionic powers and that of other lifeforms. To understand this via the scientific method would take centuries; centuries we do not have. As a result, we better begin somewhere, and my Chief Xenologist suggested more...mystical approaches, much to my own skepticism. We will see what we can do as this research goes on.

Unfortunately, Agent Alturner was killed by an alien plasma round during the operation, and as a result, we are searching for a replacement now. Thankfully, the Chinese government has locked down the area and has denied civilian access to the area, preventing this from spilling over into the mainstream media this time.

We've established that the zombie parasites appear in an area with confirmed alien activity. An alien vessel crew abducts a human, brainwashes them into a hypnotic-like state and deploys several zombie parasites to be deployed in a small community. While the hypnosis is temporary, the brainwashed individual is the last batch to be infected by the parasites to maintain secrecy. Unfortunately, right now we can only speculate about their true motives.

X-COM agents had been able to respond to a report from the Spanish Civil Guard of a Dagonist outpost in Catalonia and managed to capture one of the occupants; killing the rest with aid from our scout drones. However, during the fight, one of the drones was destroyed, alongside the AI unit known as "Tornado". Agents Castilla and Zare were also injured in battle, but they should be fine in about two weeks approximately. The Mudranger should be back soon at this point. Hopefully, it could still be useful.
