Re: X-COM Recruitment Offer - Chief Scientist

Commander,

I have reviewed the evidence you have demonstrated regarding the activities of extraterrestrial lifeforms and other previously unknown creatures and have accepted your offer to join X-COM as your organisation's Chief Scientist. I am actually hoping to explain more when I arrive regarding the details.

Sincerely,
Walter Vahlen

Subject: Dagon Morph Autopsy Report

This is a...disturbing sight to say the very least. The Dagon Sorcerer's morph is actually a form of genetically engineered human with underwater adaptations of some kind down to the genetic code and biochemistry. Thankfully, it seems to be susceptible to fire and has trouble breathing above water, which should not be an issue. However, the fact this thing used to be human is disturbing and if this is true, we better make sure to use those 11 months remaining wisely.

X-COM forces responded to a report of a zombie outbreak in Madagascar and managed to contain the outbreak with the first of our new helicopters. Otherwise, there is very little of note.

Subject: Messengers of Dagon Investigation Report

It would appear that the so-called "Messengers" the first sorcerer we captured had mentioned are actually quite real; they are likely underwater extraterrestrial lifeforms and as such, they will be dealt with accordingly. Now, we just need to know if we can capture one on land and perhaps learn more about these aquatic aliens and their motives.

As of today, it would appear that the same molecules we detected on the werewolf's remains are likely to be the most efficient energy molecules known to man. However, we would need a better lab to replicate the process, and as such, we will extract them from the remains of dead mutants in the meantime.

Subject: Operation: Jungle Avatar After Action Report

X-COM agents managed to deploy to an anonymous tip from the Vietnamese military that the Black Lotus temple we had repeatedly blown to smithereens twice had been reoccupied by Black Lotus forces. X-COM, testing its latest helicopter assets, was able to respond to the crisis, but we've lost the AI units known as Igor and Venus, alongside Agents Torres and Minase in the process, most notably trying to fight the Avatar. Regardless, we were eventually able to clear the temple and secure the area.

PAVN Forces Clear out Black Lotus Temple Ruins

Vietnamese forces earlier today were reportedly able to clear out the ruins of the Black Lotus temple in Vietnam that had been destroyed just last month. During the operation, two soldiers were killed, and two experimental drones were also wrecked in the fighting. As of now, we are unable to confirm any survivors from Black Lotus' end, meaning that the temple has been cleared for the moment. Whether they will ever return to it remains to be seen...

Subject: Cult Outpost Assault 021 After Action Report

X-COM agents managed to respond to an anonymous tip by Chinese authorities in Guangzhou about a possible Black Lotus outpost just outside the city, which X-COM had responded to and dealt with effectively. However, it should be noted that we had lost Agents Kalergi and Kamotho, as well as the drone units known as Gigatron and Hurricane. We've been able to order replacements, but these losses are significant to our organisation even at this stage.

Re: Request for Acquisition of the M1921 Thompson Submachine Gun

Commander,

The Council has reviewed your request and has granted you the full authorisation to purchase the M1921 Thompson Submachine Gun. Although a very dated weapon, we hope it can be useful in some of your more...covert operations.

Good luck, Commander. We know you will not disappoint us.

Subject: Operation: Vulgar After Action Report

X-COM agents were able to respond to a request by the Bulgarian government to participate in Operation: Vulgar, a military operation to clear out a Spikeboar infestation near the border with Yugoslavia and managed to arrive in the area. Almost immediately, however, the local military forces and X-COM began to take some nasty losses, and Agent Juan was killed in the fight, with the AI units known as Hex and Constantine being destroyed in the fighting. However, X-COM forces were able to clear out the area after brutal fighting ensued. However, most of the Bulgarian forces sent to the area, which numbered a total of 22 infantrymen and 2 armoured scout vehicles was able to score a significant number of kills, at the expense of all 22 infantrymen of this force. This, although a successful operation, has been a costly endeavour and we're not exactly certain as to the effects this operation will have on the overall effectiveness of the Bulgarian military once the Invasion begins in 11 months. The fact that an entire platoon was nearly annihilated is...disconcerting.

Joint Yugoslav-Bulgarian Military Operation Ends in Bloodbath; Monsters Confirmed to Exist

Earlier today, reports of monster activity across the world have just been confirmed by an investigation committee in Bulgaria investigating the nature of what has now become an increasingly disconcerting number of reports of "unknown lifeforms of some kind". A military operation earlier today that ended in the brutal slaughter of 22 Bulgarian soldiers, a Yugoslav soldier and the destruction of two experimental drones that were purchased from China last week had been able to clear out the unknown lifeforms, which will be "thoroughly studied and researched on by the nation's scientific community", according to government officials. As these reports become increasingly more common, could it be likely that the reports of "aliens" could be true as well? Only time will tell as we begin to experience some interesting times.

Subject: Red Dawn HQ Investigation Report

After a period of investigation we've analysed the structure of Red Dawn to the point where we can confidently locate their headquarters. It would appear that Red Dawn thrives on the military and governmental structures of Eastern Europe and Asia, with one notable example of the latter being the Red Dawn base we found in India just four months ago and destroyed. The vast majority of its higher members have access to classified, top secret data and various resources (possibly even including our own sources). However, this strength can be used against them; any exposed Red Dawn member can be easy to track down and neutralise by their official employer without X-COM interference.

As such, we've managed to track down Red Dawn's HQ to an unknown location somewhere in Siberia, which we plan to raid for the purposes of gathering all the personal data we can find. If we can pull this off, we may be able to not only locate Red Dawn's various members, but possibly even render the organisation defunct. However, as with the upcoming raid on Black Lotus HQ, this will be a very difficult operation as the personnel there WILL be guaranteed to put up a fierce fight. We should be ready when possible.

Subject: Church of Dagon HQ Investigation Report

After getting some additional data from the so-called "Sorcerer", we've managed to determine that the Church of Dagon has a network of pyramids in Equatorial Africa, which the Dagonists use as their bases. There is also known to be a "High Temple" of sorts where the Dagoniss keep their most sacred object, a gift from Dagon; a golden statue much like that of the Golden Lady. If we can capture it, we'll be able to cripple the cult once we figure out where the statue is. However, it's location changes between the pyramids, but not often enough to prevent us from tracing it with reasonable accuracy. At this point, it is safe to say that three out of four groups that are dangerous to humanity are currently in the brink of defeat at the time of writing this report.

Good luck, Commander. We hope you are met with continued success on the field.

Subject: The Syndicate Investigation Report

This is quite...disturbing to say the very least. This is not called the Syndicate for no reason. As far as we can tell, they are a global organisation that is in control of various global corporations, including BlackOps Industries, which has been supplying X-COM with its own weapons and equipment. It's primary objective appears to be monetising the knowledge of the aliens and alien technology at any cost, though they do seem to have a larger purpose for that: global domination. While they do have virtually unlimited assets and enjoy favouritism from some of the terrorist and criminal groups we've encountered we've been able to at least infiltrate BlackOps Industries, so that should be a start. Needless to say, this makes the aforementioned groups less of a threat and more of a nuisance in comparison. These are some interesting times indeed....

Re: Request for Acquisition of BlackOps SMGs

Commander,

The Council has reviewed your request and accepted the request to acquire BlackOps SMGs. Based on your prior experience in the field, we believe that one of your agents is already acquainted with the use of these firearms.

Good luck, Commander. We expect much from you.
