Hello,

After playing Xenonauts 2 demo (too short, i want more !), i remembered how i loved XFiles mod 1 or 2 years ago, and XDivision.

So now, i’m jumping around different mods, and i’ve fixed my attention on X-Chronicles, and NuclearWorld.

It feels very slow at start, is it, or am i missing something ? I’ve two teams of 2, and only 1 science man, and many topics to research. I’ve built a workshop to open the starter crates too, so i have some items, and i’m waiting for a second lab, hoping for more research capacity.

So far i did a few missions against ghouls and wanderers, they felt right. I get i cannot have everything in one shelter, but at the same time, i’m curious to see how it’s NOT frustrating or dead-ending. Say i’m going to the farm or diplomacy road, how can i fight and defend myself ? What about science, is it slow for a long time ? I litteraly wait on the world map to get something done, very few missions to go with, and nothing much happening overall, just passing days and waiting for science.

Anyway, i hope this mod will be well and alive and growing, as the little i see now seems really nice and intrigiung (no UFO is quite a big deal you go with).

Hello,

I’m trying this mod for the first time (i play XFiles a lot, loved it, and also some 40K and PirateZ but didn’t like them).
Can you give some general hints on how to start and want to expect, so i may avoid many hours of restarts ?

I go with one base in France, and then i select Russia, as i guess they will be more blunt and brutal and dwarfy ?
Then there is a mission with 5 one-eyed wolves and they destroy me.
Back to the base after i reload and retry several times, but even many bullets seem to not kill anything, so, escape.
I wait until the Russia let me buy some items like armors and guns.

So, am i suppose to "wait" at first, to get some better stuff, or should i go and try and die more ?

I Played a lot with Xfiles and OXCE last years, and i’m quite excited about From the Ashes. I didn’t try to play it yet nor to install (i’m on Linux Manjaro if it matters), but i’ll certainly do so "soon".

I’ve done another mission, no issue this time.

 One door was open, so i could access the main sewer and see the layout.

Next time if i have a similar walled door, at least i know how it can be layouted.

About research, can we get some clarification, mostly everything :

Some thoughts on my completed playthrough:
- I was expecting X-COM style linear upgrades but overall most things seem like sidegrades? I went through the game mostly with the Heavy Bolter/Lascannon/Terminator Armor/Drop Pods. Research doesnt have that X-COM feeling of progression. I was excited to unlock all the weapons, armor, vehicles but when I looked at the stats didnt feel the need to use most of it.
- Speaking of research, was a bit confusing, had to refer to the tech tree post a lot
- variety in the weapons is cool but feels like there are so many different patterns of bolters/lasguns/etc that are similar
- does researching all the enemies/corpses/items do anything besides fill out lore? feels bad spending the research time, at least the middle mouse click gives some hints though

I’m playing OXCE+Files+Additions, and i’m having a blast, and i’m thinking maybe i’ll play 40k next month when/if i’m done with my current campagn.

Hello again,

Trying to do my first Cyberweb Lair mission, i cannot find my way.

The briefing said to bring explosive, so i took my best boom tools.
I tried to go on the marked doors (screenshot) but nothing behind, so i tried to use my "High Explosive" i think it’s the name.
I dug 1 tile but that’s it. Same with the 3 doors.

Do i really need "a lot" of explosive, or am i missing something here ?

Hello,

I’m doing my first HQ attack, and it starts with my team of 8 split into two groups in different small rooms.
I cannot go anywhere but inside a kind of elevator ? So i go there, with group 1 and group 2, as the layouts are the same but i cannot regroup my team.

Then i have no idea what to do, so i end turn, and... Crazy, many Hidden IA movements, some melee seem to happen, but when it’s my turn again, beside some armor hit, i see nothing new.

Another turn goes just the same, so i quit until i understand what i am missing.

No idea what to do, where to go... I searched the forum for "HQ" related stuff, but only find questions about the geoscape locations of these HQ.

Hello,

It seems YouTube is blocking my video because of "Strategist, Kensuke Ushio" music.
Not a "green" block, but a "yellow" one : cannot watch in 82% countries...

As a comment my videos, i have to redo a large part of it without the ingame music.

Is it "normal", expected, known ?

Go to Craft Equipment screen and press X.

Or in other words, you don't need to remove it from the soldiers, you just need to remove it from the craft.

Yes, but my already equipped soldiers not in a Craft because of team rotation, or health issue, etc ?
 I have to set a Craft to these soldiers, then unequip the craft. Or i’m dumb (very possible).

Hello,

I play with the last version of OXCE + XFiles + Additions. I’m in september 1997.

Is there a way to remove everything from everyone ?
I want all my stuff back in my base so i can count and share better between the different teams.
Only way i found is to set crew to a car/van then go to inventory and manually remove everything from the trunck of the van, and repeat with other soldiers.
The van because my other vehicles so far have only 2 crew so it’s faster with the 4 van crew.

Bonus question : when will i have better than the Public and Private cars, and the Van ?
