Hopefully it won't be a "World of MOO" or something, but a nice reboot of an old gem.

Think I'll wait a while to see if its any good.  MOO3 was a nightmare.  I've even tried to watch someone play it on youtube and got so bored. 

What worked in 1 also worked in 2.  Hope they make it good.

Moo3 basically put you into the position of a buerocratic administrator. And those Scroll down menues, a maze in itself...

I will definitly check out their relaunch since i myself am a big fan of Master of Orion.
It was my 5th game i discovered, after dune 2 which was the first, then colonization, xcom and command and conquer.

Klackoons will take over the universe once again!
Which reminds me i should do a LP of MOO.

Yeah, for some reason MOO and MOO2 was somehow intuitive.  I remember some minor irritations at not being able to redirect a fleet in mid flight until I got the relevant comms technology.  For MOO3...  I don't know, I just kept thinking about Star Control 2 for some reason and how simple that game was...

IMHO the problem with MoO ]|[ (yeah that's the official logo) was not that it was too complicated, not even that it was too hard. It was just grossly unfinished, with half the planned content missing (mostly related to how society and leaders work - it was supposed to be a hardcore simulation). What we got was a messy random mass of features and, even worse, it mostly played itself - the player had little to do, unless they wanted to micromanage everything that was very tedious and not all that rewarding. Add horrible combat (again, fully automatic - no decisions were making any difference) and ugly design (not just aliens races, everything), and here you go.

Yeah.  I thought the Baldurs gate manual was a joke, but that was only if you really wanted to read up on all the spells.  Otherwise it didn't need that much detail.

I'm not an apple fan, but I realize for some...  things, a simple interface would help.

I think what played for MOO2 were its simple, but very well thought-of rules (almost as simple as with Heroes III), coupled with a richness of cool gfx and background text - in short, very rewarding gameplay. It only suffered from late-game management hell, and the "a single battle decides everything " syndromme which makes MP in MOO2 less than awesome (just like in the Civ series). We'll see how the new devs will handle this - all we see for now is a good trailer and a really thin Bulrathi person :) The lack of uber-hype gives some hope, though. The fact that MOO2 stands practically undefeated in its genre even after almost 20 years sets the expectations very high, though.

Eh? Where did that come from? You mean on the number of info it had?

Simple in concept and understanding yes, but the underlying mechanics while certainly not convulted were not that simple IMHO. But then again it was a strategy (real strategy) game so it can be as complex as the general behind the seat.

Well, it was a game mostly intended for DND fans, but on the spell department it wasnt that bad. Right clicking on the spellbook was giving you the discription, just as you aquired them.

I can only imagine your horror if you played the second instalment  ;D
