Hi.

is anyone working on it... ?
Actually? Probably nobody.

Latest build: https://openxcom.org/index.php/downloads/git-builds/
Languages file folder: openxcom\data\Language

Info: https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=Translations_%28OpenXcom%29

Compare English.lng (game base) with Italian.lng file, and go!
;)
Good luck!

Current italian translation is from original game, so you don't have to start from 0, but there's nobody working on it either. You just need to update/add new strings, or review any that are badly translated (and from what I've heard, original X-Com has some pretty bad translations :P).

You can find the translation directly here: https://github.com/SupSuper/OpenXcom/blob/master/bin/data/Language/Italian.lng (any new strings will still be in english)

i'm starting tomorrow, or maybe monday...

is there a expiration date?

questions:

_is the one from supsuper the version for openxcom 4.0?

_is supsuper still working on it?

No, but it will not be in time for the xext release. Wich is 0.4.5.
But no work is lost, just do your thing and it will be in the release after that and the git version.

There is no expiration date. 0.4.5 is coming out this weekend, anything done later will just be included afterwards.

The translation I linked is the latest one for 0.4.5, it's not changing anymore.

I would recommend just translating the new strings first for 0.4.5, since that'll probably be the fastest, and revising the whole translation later.

That portion of the game is not yet functional :D

Also, the UFOpedia doesn't sync up with the research yet, and I think only two races are implemented: Sectiods and Floaters.

In fact, until v0.4.5, the UFOpedia didn't even work properly.

The graphs aren't implemented yet.

Anyways nice work. :) One thing I noticed though, since this translation is ripped from the PSX version, some UFOpedia entries refer to PSX controls... could you correct them so they match this english PC text:
Quote
STR_MOTION_SCANNER_UFOPEDIA
This sophisticated device uses a variety of detectors and advanced computer algorithms to identify moving enemy units. However, it requires some practice to use effectively. Click on the motion scanner icon on the tactical display. Select 'Use Scanner' from the menu.  The Scanner display shows an arrow in the center which is the direction the soldier is facing (North is at the top). The flashing blobs show units which have moved recently. Large units, or fast moving units, will produce larger blobs. Static units will not be detected.
STR_MEDI_KIT_UFOPEDIA
The medi-kit combines a healing facility with pain killers and stimulants. In order to use the medi-kit you must face towards the soldier requiring treatment. If the soldier is stunned you must stand over the body. Click on the medi-kit icon and select 'use medi-kit' from the menu.{NEWLINE}HEALING> Red body parts show fatal wounds. Click on a body part that is wounded. Click on the 'Heal' button. One fatal wound will be cured and some health restored.{NEWLINE}STIMULANT> This will restore energy and revive unconscious (stunned) soldiers. In order to revive an unconscious soldier you must stand directly over the body.{NEWLINE}PAIN KILLER> This will restore the morale of wounded soldiers up to an amount equivalent to the soldier's lost health.
STR_PSI_AMP_UFOPEDIA
The Psi-amp can only be used by soldiers with psionic skill. During combat, click on the Psi-amp, select the type of attack, and select a target unit with the cursor. There are two types of psionic attack:{NEWLINE}PANIC UNIT> If the attack is successful it will reduce the target's morale and may cause it to panic.{NEWLINE}MIND CONTROL> If this is successful then you will gain immediate control of the enemy unit as if it was one of your own (except that you cannot access the object screen). It is more difficult to be successful with this type of attack.

Sorry about that, but you were warned with a pretty big disclaimer the first time you start OpenXcom that it is incomplete and heavily under development.

Anyways, Ufopaedia will be tied to research by 0.4.5.
