Change Avatar

Hey,

i might be doing something very silly or not, but i have read up several times, that you are supposed to be able to change your avatar in the inventory of the game by pressing M.
Maybe it is an "issue" with the x-files mod, but i am not able to do so.

Or maybe i am missundertanding it, but i thought it means i can change the "soldier sprite".
I am only having male agents, and i named one of them after my gf, so i need a female avatar

you could just edit the save file and make that soldier a female?
save files are plain text, very easy to alter.

Hi,

yes, you can change your avatar by:
- pressing M
- or right-clicking on the paperdoll

but only when you open the inventory while you are still in the base... pre-mission briefing inventory and in-mission inventory doesn't support it.

Even if you change the avatar from male to female, the game will still recognize your character as male - it will use male sprites and male death screams.
Or am I wrong...?

It shouldn't... gender is updated too... but if you find something wrong, let me know.

Googling this and many other questions years later and repeatedly finding yoru answers, thank you Sir. 

However, if anyone can answer, this is not working for me? I cannot RC on soldier or hit 'M' in skyranger inventory screen while at base and bring up the pictured option to change the avatar?
Is it only for open xcom extended mod?

I did figure out how to do it manually by modifying the "look" value in save file.

Yes, it is possible to add new avatars. The process is rather involved, though, so please specify what exactly you want to do, and with which mod (if any).
