OpenXcom on iOS
« on: August 13, 2018, 08:23:25 am »
Hello, everybody!

After a catastrophic error that resulted in a bootloop on my Android (which I could not recover even with Recovery mode), my father gave me his old iPhone 5 with iOS 10. I know that APKs can not be installed  on iOS, but does anyone know any way to play OXC and install mods on this platform? My phone will return from Technical Support in a month or more. :(

You would have to recompile the Android version for iOS, and also root your iPhone as otherwise you can't install stuff outside the store, so not easy.

I was thinking about using Xcode 8, it's an official Apple application for developers and it allows us to use public source codes, if I remember correctly OXCE+ is available on GitHub. I want to avoid as much as possible applying the Jailbreak, because this iPhone is borrowed. What do you think?

Hey. I came across this post during my quest to bring OpenXcom to iOS. I've compiled OpenXcom for iOS and found a third party app store to host it meaning no jailbreak required. I've put the details in the following post.

Keep in mind that this is an old version of OpenXcom, from July 2017.

OXCE now also supports iOS: https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,7047.0.html
