No Mods Working In Nightly At All!!! (well only the Nightly ones show up)

  I recently made a couple of posts about being unable to get Final Mod Pack to work.
Despite uninstalling are wiping everything then reinstalling...nothing works.

I do have a background in IT so please do not respond with "do you know where mods go?" and "do you know how to put files or folders in your mods folder?".
I am well versed in moving and finding and unzipping files and have done similar things with other games and software several times in the past.

I have tried different mods; unzipping my mods to the "mods" folder and they do not appear in game in the mods list at all!
I tried both putting the whole mod folder in and when that didn't work I deleted it, then pulled out the individual files and unzipped them to the mods folder.
Nightly starts up fine and going to the mods section shows no additional mods.....WTF?
I tried several other mods and its the same result every time.

I am using the Steam version of Xcom as my original install and I the installed Nightly: openxcom_git_master_2017_01_27_1156.exe
Upon Installing Nightly it properly sees and points to the Steam version just fine.
New games in Nightly start up fine and the Nightly mods appear in the list as normal.   

I'm starting to wonder if there is something wrong with either the Vanilla Steam version of Xcom or The version of Nightly I'm using?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Steam Xcom and Openxcom several times.

I'm at a loss...any advice?
Should I use a different OpenXcom version?

I'm using Windows 7 Professional (full Windows updates)
Latest version of Nightly: openxcom_git_master_2017_01_27_1156.exe
Latest Steam version of Xcom installed

double check the directory you're copying the mod into, it should be something like "C:\Users\War\My Documents\OpenXcom\mods"
note that this is NOT the folder where the game is installed.

and this next part is gonna seem condescending but please don't take it as such:

have you tried scrolling the mods list?

I have not seen how scrolling the mods list mechanic works, please indulge me.

However, I have been up and down in the list several times and dont see the mods.

I don't think this can be solved by forum posts... your issue will be something tiny and obvious-looking, so you overlook it every time.

If you want, I can help via screen sharing (e.g. Skype call) or via remote desktop (e.g. Team Viewer).

Actually, unless its something I'm overlooking, I'll be surprised if I get any additional mods to work.

Just to rule out using a 'wrong' directory. Perhaps you can attach the openxcom.log file of your most recent successful normal startup. It would normally indicate all search paths known to the game.
