Am new to the forums, though this account is somewhat old.

Was blown away by the mere existence of a extended version of Open Xcom!?

Though I'm quite curious what you guys think are the best must have mods you would recommend everyone.

What is FMP and TWoTS and how do I install them?

Are they meant to used independently of each other?

You install TWoTS and FMP like any other mod:
1. download

Oh excellent thanks for the help Meridian!

Though I was wondering, can you combine the hardcore hardmode mod with the Final Mod Pack?

Seems like that would create the ultimate UFO experience.

You should not enable multiple big mods at once, more big mod is then bigger chance of conflict is, and this could end up in crash

You can only combine one big mod with some small mods.

Do I need to install the submod OXCE and FMP or can I just install the submod for Extended?

It's not a technical issue.
It's a logical issue.

You can activate them both if you wish, it will just not do anything meaningful.
Same as if you were listening to Britney Spears and Lady Gaga at the same time... instead of two nice songs, you will get one unrecognizable mess.

Do not listen to him, the best mod is (without any doubt) "XCOM-Files".

It's like the original and second game combined and with added new enemies and events. Without sillines and tits of XPirates.

It's the ultimate Xcom experience. The pinnacle of Xcom legacy.

My favourite mod is actually a fork by Xilmi that makes the AI really good. I recommend playing a game you're familiar with (like vanilla UFO or TFTD) unless you like pain and suffering. I would also enable Custom Initial Base and disable Aggressive Retaliation if you plan on playing Superhuman. I beat it with Aggressive Retaliation before, but it was on an earlier version.

I'm surprised why the X-Com Files is not mentioned in this list.  What is your rationale for not including it?  I'm asking from the standpoint of a user and modder who appreciates the richness of playthrough and story that was enabled by XCF and which the vanilla is missing.

Also, I wonder if FMP is actually a part of XCF?  That's been my impression after reading descriptions at the mod.io, and playing through the whole XCF oncee.
