[Rejected] Compressed save files option
« on: February 20, 2020, 03:43:24 pm »
Rejection reason: this is beyond/outside the scope of OXCE

I've just realized the size of a saved game around 2M each) and since it's only text it benefits greatly from compression, so I wondered if there could be an option to compress the save files when activated. It may interest some people.

What is the advantage of trying to compress a very small 2MB file?  ???

even if it's considered small nowadays when I see a big text file I always want to compress it and make it 13 times smaller.

As a potential slight alternative, and I don't really recommend this, if you're on Windows you could enable NTFS compression on your saves folder.

It won't compress as well as something like 7zip, and it has it's own caveats, but it is an alternative.

:o  Floppy ?
My computer is 10 years old and there was no floppy drive.
If your computer has one, donate it to a museum!  :)  8)  ;)
