Installation confusion

The readme says that the needed OpenXcomExtended files are included, but I have no executables.  Just DarkGeoscape,  XCF Cyrillic Names, and XComFiles and no executables in any of the sub folders.  What am I doing wrong?

You should download OXE 6.1.1, then put tshese folders with mod into "standart" folder od OXE directory. Exe file is OpenXcomEx.exe

DO NOT put it into "standard" folder. Mods belong into "mods" folder!!!!!

What is the problem? I put them there and everything works well.  And I'm not alone  in this:)

Another example of why My Documents is a concept fucked up beyond any recognition... More than any Windows "feature".

ye i was looking for a savegame for a while til i found it there.
why would you wanna put stuff there? you got your own folder, put all the stuff in there...

I know that OX folder is in there with options file and saves. But I put XCF into 'standart' folder because other default mods, provided by OXE, were there. Everything works fine, no problem about it. 'Mods' folder is still clear.

old developer wisdom: if there is a way to do it wrong, there will be someone doing it. so better make it impossible to do it wrong. ^^

This is how I did it.

1. DL'd XCOMfiles 1.0 & OXE 6.1.1 32bit and extracted them to separate folders on the desktop.
2. Went to old Xcomfiles mod folder and deleted old 0.9.9 folder.  moved new 1.0 folder to mods folder.
3. Went to xcomfiles base folder.  deleted 'standard' & 'common' folders.
4. moved 'standard' & 'common' folders as well as the new openxcomex.exe file from the 6.1.1 folder on the desktop into the base openxcomfiles folder overwritng the old exe.
5. clicked on the shortcut I use to open the game.

Simple.
