Hi I'm new to modding, and OpenXcom itself, and I was wondering if I could get some help. I installed the latest nightly (2018_05_12_1952) and Final Mod Pack (2.2d) and I also tried the Latest OXCE (v5.1) as well with the Final Mod pack

This is what the log file said:

But when I look there is a file called IMPROVEDGLOBE.DAT. I tried looking for a fix and all I found seemed to have been old posts and the fixes appeared to be implemented on this versions rule set

If someone could give me some help I would really appreciate it, I loved this game when i was a kid and I saw all the videos online about this and wanted to give it a go and I'm thwarted at the very beginning.

It could be because newer OneDrive versions support lazy loading of files (e.g. they are not always on your system, only get downloaded when actually used).
In that case the files were probably not on your system yet.

Could you try installing oxc (and the mod folders) somewhere else on your harddrive, just to see if that solves the problem.

Or/and when possible post a screenshot of windows explorer showing that file on your system.

It seems onedrive can protect your Documents by migrating that folder into it's cloud-protected area. In that case thy the following:

Assuming you have a pretty recent OneDrive version:
1) Onder windows explorer, navigate to C:\Users\deros\OneDrive\Documents
2) Use Right Mouse Button on the OpenXcom folder.
3) Select the option:
Code: [Select]
Always keep on this Device
This should force download all your mods and saves to the computer (while still allowing cloud synchronization)

Hello there, I know I'm necroing an old thread but I just wanted to add an additional info in case someone else gets this issue, without OneDrive installed.

I also got the message that IMPROVEDGLOBE.DAT couldn't be found, it took me a few minutes to understand what happened, it was my fault.
The problem is that I have the habit of unzipping archives into folders with their respective names instead of choosing "extract here",
so it created a folder with the name of the zip file with another subfolder.

So, make sure you only cut/paste the "Final Mod Pack" folder into your mods folder and not "final_mod_pack_2.3b\Final Mod Pack\"
because OpenXcom can't find files into this subfolder.
