[SUGGESTION] Battelscape level multiplayer

Hi All!

I had this idea that it would be nice to play tactical battles with friends via hot-seat for instance.  It also should not be to hard to code, and even it might be a good starting point for a real multiplayer version, especially since UFO: Two sides is down and wont be developed further (as far as I can find out on the website).

What you guys and girls thinks?

Yeah, this would be nice.
But since the single-player version - which is the original goal - is still under heavy development, i doubt that implementation of multiplayer begins before version 1.0.

Sorry to necropost. I was thinking about the hot-seat. This could be hard to do? Maybe as simple as aliens be able to be controlled in quick battle in a quick and dirty way? Or not so simple to that? Nothing about IP, nor connectivity, just press end turn, and you can control the aliens.

it's POSSIBLE, but there are issues, the first that comes to mind is the fog of war.
alot of extra data would need to be added so we can effectively keep track of what the alien player sees (as opposed to having the whole field exposed) as well as what xcom sees.
disabling the AI and allowing control of aliens would be easy by comparison.

would it be possible as a kind of hotfix to have a hotseat game where the visibility is grossly simplified: terrain is either in direct LOS of a friendly unit or black?

this would avoid the whole issue and still allow playing hotseat games, if only in a kind of groping-around-in-the-dark kind of way.

Sure for now its a UFO2000 thing, one day it would be good to move this into OXC to take advantage of all the other features OXC has. For now i think we should focus on UFO and TFTD support :)

Right, for sure. When we run out of cool singleplayer things everyone wants maybe multiplayer is the next logical step.

Regardless of whether it gets implemented or not, if it is a later update or something the work on now. I am happy Warboy1982 just said its possible. Maybe he seemed to indicate it as not likely but i like that there is some hope.

Just been looking at the work done by Bombbloke/NFK and others with respect to all the unueed maps within the UFO/Maps folder , i just noticed this one Bombbloke was talkign about once in my UFO thread , maybe its just me but these first 2 look like Mulitplyer levels.
