Windows Defender problems with MapView
« on: December 28, 2016, 11:31:31 pm »
Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to put this topic.

Anyway, about half an hour ago, I downloaded MapView from the link on this site:
https://openxcommods.weebly.com/mapview.html

Windows Defender deleted it because it though it was a virus. Well, okay, whatever. I use RPGMaker MV a lot, sometimes it likes to derp out and delete .js files I download, fair enough. I just turned off real time protection, unzipped it, and ran the program.

But, now ever few minutes, I keep getting a pop up from Windows Defender saying it found some Malware, and that it's deleting it. It's done that like, over twenty times now. I've deleted MapView, I've deleted the .zip folder it came in, and I emptied the recycle bin. Everything I can possibly think of that it could be detecting is gone.

So, does anyone know what happened? Did I just get suckered and download an unsafe file, or, is this just something else, that I could possibly fix?

MapView has been updated to run on the latest Windows versions - see this thread https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,1321.0.html and you can download an updated version on its last pages

Alright, thanks. I'll be sure to give that a try.
