OpenXCom and Steam

Hi! I only stumbled across this today as I was looking for a Base Mod, but I am a little lost.

I currently am playing the "Steam" download of the game which is a little clunky, and game play slows down when I get to level 1 or 2 of a UFO. So from what I have read this could be my solution.

However I am a little lost as to how?! It says I need a copy of XCom to use this. Does this mean I can use it with my steam download? are they compatible or do I need to go hunting for the CDROM I had back in 94... which I have to say has probably gone the way of the Dodo at my mums place!!!

Any advice or comments you guys can give would be excellent.

P.S. long term player of this game, as I said I bought it new in 94 (as a 9year old) and I keep coming back to it. I love this game, and really look forward to having a go with some of these mods!

I'd recommend going with a recent Nightly build and you can find instructions in for those in the second link.

Thank you got it all installed tonight and working great.

Now trying to figure out how to get the Nightly Commendation Mod to work
