(Figure I may as well get the ball rolling on the plot while waiting for more troops)

BEGIN RECORDING.
Today is January 1st, 1999. And we have concrete proof that we are not alone.

Well...

The proof could probably melt concrete, anyway.

I am High Commander Samantha Frost. I am in overall command of the eXtraterrestrial COMbat unit - X-COM. The governments of the world have been forced to acknowledge that there is such a this as an extraterrestrial. And they do not come in peace.
X-COM was formed to fight these invaders, and apparently I'm the only one they deem worthy of overseeing the organisation. Why? I don't know. Until now I've never believed in aliens, or even considered the possibility...

I'm getting off-track.

Our headquarters is Alpha Site (see Attachments 1 and 2). It houses our three Interceptor warplanes, for engaging UFOs, and our Skyranger troop transport (see Attachment 3). I guess I'll cut it off here. Not much else to say.

END RECORDING

BEGIN RECORDING.
January 2nd, 1999. One of our operatives, a certain Mr. Meridian, has repeatedly bugged the armourer, Boris, demanding that an incendiary option be made available.

Meridian, we ordered this just for you. (See Attachment 4)

Not much else going on. I set our staff of exactly ten scientists to work on developing some new firearms.

Other than that, a quiet day.

END RECORDING

(yay a full crew :3)
BEGIN RECORDING.
January 5th, 1999. We detected our first UFO this morning, right at the edge of our radar range, but the damn thing bugged out before the Interceptor got near it.

Meridian's flamethrower finally came in, but now he keeps it with him around the base and nobody will go near him. *sigh* In other news, I ordered some armoured vests that just came in, and I issued a notice saying that the soldiers who want one can have one, as long as they're aware of how restrictive and heavy those things are.

Beyond that we're waiting for the first ground op. Could be any minute now.

Hm.

Maybe I should order a HWP. I'll ask the troops to vote on it. Minigun, rocket or cannon?

END RECORDING

BEGIN RECORDING.
Making this quick. A UFO just touched down in some farmland. The troops are on their way now.
END RECORDING.

I can split each mission into several posts, allowing for a lot more screenshots, paired with soldier dialogue, or I can only post screenshots of significant occurrences, with the mission itself summed up by Frost's commentary. Which one's preferable?

Moar content means moar wait time, but I'll do my best to prevent The Update Where Things Happen from becoming the TFTD Duke Nukem Forever of LPs  :P

mainly because im way too lazy to find an image hosting site so I can put the screenies in the post body

I'll join if needed:

Soldier name: Third Curry
Personality: Largely apathetic and occasionally sarcastic; only joined due to poor job market; prefers breaching UFOs over open field fighting
Weapon: Melee weapons, short range guns, likes armor
Skills: Very high health, good melee accuracy and bravery, probably lousy firing and throwing accuracy
Position in the flying coffin: Doesn't matter

OK, I want in too!

Soldier name: Shiomura Kamina
Personality: Choleric and easily irritated by ineptness. Hot-blooded, but usually has some simple plan to follow. Somewhat prefers mid-to-close combat weapons (assault rifles, shotguns, flamethrowers),  but it's not a strong preference. Will train rookies, because "they need to be taught properly". Has a secret weed plantation behind the base. Absolutely hates weapon maintenance.

I know getting too eloquent can kill such an LP, but not neccesarily. I've once managed (with a big help from another player, and some help from others, including Solarius) to keep a very literate "LP" of a Multiplayer Civ game that went for 2 years or so... Have faith in yourself, Nadir!
