inventory change
« on: April 02, 2014, 07:10:32 pm »
hi is it possible/easy to change the inventory screen to emulate a more xcom apocalypse like item assignment?
see picture
instead of showing each weapon - show a representative with a number
if you pick up an item it shows the number (in brackets) at the end of the description (also helps if the number is not good readable (fontcolor?) with that specific sprite)

one related annoying behaviour is that  the "ground" jumps back to the first page if i change the soldier
it is ok during the battle but in preparation i would prefer that the ground page stays the same

(i play 0.9 at the moment)

use the nightly build. trust me. it includes "items on the ground stack". this feature has been introduced months back.

ah great!
i will try a nightly build :)
the 0.9 version is almost a year old is there a specific milestone for the project you want to reach before releasing a new stable version?

admittedly, the label "stable version" is somewhat unprecise (and already heavily discussed previously). do NOT assume that the nightlies are inherently unstable... also, several of the previous "stable" versions contained terrible, sometimes crippling bugs.

if in doubt, use the latest nightly build. ( or, perhaps, wait until the nightly build is a few hours old. if no additional build pops up, it should be mostly stable ;) )

I never experienced any instability with my nightly build games, except for modding issues of course.

The other side of the coin is people get really mad if we so much as mess with something, when nightly builds should be our messing around playground. :P

It would be possible to 'tag' some recent release as the currently recommended version. At the end of each month, you could name the build that you think is the safest for new players. The new options screen is nice and all but the commit just before 'OMG UI OVERHAUL' would be probably more suitable for those who just want to play. The price: the nightlies would be tested by less people. Required work: you could deliberately pick just any version which did not need an urgent fix in hours.
