beta build install
« on: July 09, 2013, 03:27:51 am »
very silly question, but better safe than sorry.

I take it you can install the beta over previous stable? Savegame has too much to lose.
I had a backup, but it got used for trying out ufo2000 and then corrupted. Deleted full folder.

well the beta build doesn't have the installer as far as i remember, but you can get the full version and the apply the 'beta' called nightly

also, there's a reason why Warboy bears the title "Destroyer of Saves". if you apply one of the nightly builds, chances are that your old savefiles won't work. on the other hand, they might... you can increase the probability of the savefile being transferable by using a non-battlescape savefile; and of course always keep backups...

In any, case loading saves won't alter them, so you can safely install a beta version, try the saves, and if they don't work just install the regular version again.

And yes you can install betas on top of the regular version, just make sure to overwrite everything.
