No Audio Hardware Detected
« on: September 28, 2024, 02:30:58 pm »
Hi everyone!

After a long while I thought I'd grab the OG xcom again to give it a go but I'm having a few issues.

I have the versions from GOG, and installed the openxcom from the nightlies page (including data patches). However, no matter what I've tried it seems to detect no audio on startup, and when I go to the audio page on settings, it is saying I have no audio hadware.

Have any of you experienced this before? I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure it out!

Thanks!

Can you attach the log file (openxcom.log)?

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply! Wasn't expecting such a quick response, lol.

I've attached it here.

Yeah it's a real strange one, I swear I've tried everything I could think of that may be causing it. At least it means I'm not just being silly lol!

are you running some strange setup?
something like windows virtual machine on linux or something?

or just plain old windows?
which version?

does the sound play on your computer otherwise?

can you try if OXCE has the same problem?

Nope! Just normal 'ol Windows 11 23H2!

Everything plays normally otherwise in regards to sound. The only thing I've noticed is that when I boot up the Dosbox original versions through GOG I can get the music running but no sound effects.

Just tried it with OXCE as well and still the same..

I just had this problem trying to update my OXCE for X-Com files, restarted my computer and that seemed to work for me.

I hope your problem was just as simple but I mostly wanted to make this post in case anyone else is sniffing around for a solution
