I tried temporarily disabling Windows Security real time scanning/threat protection, but the problem persists which is really odd as I've never seen anything like this. I mean I've seen where after an .exe file has been successfully downloaded your computer will warn you when you run it and tell you to make sure it's from a trusted source, but in this case I can't even complete the download. It just gets part way then stops which makes no sense considering I've download many .exe files previously as every program installed on my system started as an .exe file which I was able to download without any problems using FireFox. And even if the Openxcom_git_master_2022_06_07_2003.exe file is being mis-identified as a threat wouldn't disabling real time protection get around that?
Or is there something besides Windows Security (which is my only anti-virus/security program) that could be stopping the download?
Having said all that if you have any ideas or suggestions I'd gladly give them a try, and thanks for your time Meridian.
