Armour and angles

So my surprise, this Security buy hit my left armour twice in a row, instead of, what i would expect to be hit, the front armour.
Can someone elaborate on the exact determination of angles of hits ?

I stubled upon this aswell when testing shorguns that output a lot of bullets. Apparently there is a slight chance to hit the side parts of the armor, which the game also calls arms. Two in a row is unlikely but of course can happens.
And when you think about side armor as arms, it is quite clear why the can be hit from the front or back.
