Xenonauts is an indie X-COM inspired game currently in development by Goldhawk Interactive.
More info: https://www.xenonauts.com/
-
Another one? :D
It does look interesting, we'll see how it turns out when it's released.
-
They've posted first work-in-progress/alpha-testing screenshot from battlescape:

Xenonauts Dev Diary: Exclusive first ground combat screens and walkthrough:
https://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/10/xenonauts-dev-diary-exclusive-first-ground-combat-screens-and-walkthrough/
Contains screenshots from combat !!
Seeing those screenshots i have a feeling that it will be first indie / commercial x-com clone, which is most close to original.

very neat indeed !
-
Looks very good but i can't find info on what platform it will run on? Just Windows i take it?

Hi, I did pre-order Xenonauts and wanted to share my preview with you : https://www.daiky.be/2011/09/xenonauts-preview-it-really-what-every.html
-
Daiky, great preview :)

Daiky, great preview :)
I second that. And I'm waiting for part #2 ;D
-
Hi I've (quickly) done a part 2 :) https://www.daiky.be/2011/09/xenonauts-preview-part-2.html
I do probably one more when it is closer to release.
-
they stole my idea , civilians defending them selves ;D If the aliens start taking over unarmed civilians and making them pick up alien weapons to attack the Human forces i know there been reading this site :P
-
hehe luk83, it's not 100% like that, they are more like friendly AI soldiers.
-
Daiky, but after for example 30% civilians killed by xcom, those who left should turn their arms against xcom. At least locally (for particular battle). Anyways, they aren't infenitely loyal to xcom.
For those countries which have low xcom rating, civilians are most intolerant, and can start shooting xcom even after first casualty.
-
I don't know if it are civilians, it could be another xcom unit, or an independent army (not belonging to any country or continent) that has the same purpose as you, defeating alien threath, but is controlled by AI.
Because they say the purpose of this is: "there should be less of a sense that the rest of the world has given up the fight against the extraterrestrials."
BTW, this is a great preview video:

I like the option to change the Soldiers positions on the ship, Is this a planned feature of OpenX?

Yes, we'll probably go with the UFO-Extender-style approach first (arrows in the Soldier screen for reordering) for simplicity.

Update for ppl who don't track this project. They will soon release public demo build, so anyone will be able to try it ;) Also, they will start kickstarter campaign.
-
And they're on kickstarter:
www.kickstarter.com/projects/69341191/xenonauts
Also, public demo can be downloaded from:
https://www.xenonauts.com/devbuilds/Xenonauts_Kickstarter_Demo.zip
-
With less than 48 hours at kickstarter:
1,393 BACKERS $49,065 PLEDGED OF $50,000 GOAL
-
And there are only 30 more days to go...
-
looks like they are having a great kickstarter. But I didn't expect anything else :)
-
Kickstarter seems to be all the rage now, they're probably getting a lot more publicity from that alone then the actual game they're building, a lot of people don't even realize they even have a demo and such set up.
Maybe OpenXcom should do a Kickstarter. :P
-
Hehe, you would need to setup company in US ;)
-
Darn, foiled again! ;)
-
They've finished with 154,715 $
Frankly, i've expected they will gather more money. Probably it's because they've got little press coverage.

That's the KS demo. I'd wait for the next demo when the game releases next year. It's going to be rad.
-
I bellied up for the pre-order, and downloaded a couple of alphas. Not spent much time with it, really. It does look good, though, and is much more of a spiritual successor to xcom than EU. They are a little behind schedule but not terribly so, and bulking out a large quantity of good quality artwork. Certainly anyone browsing this forum should strongly consider paying the man.
