Stock, sights, and rail looks nice, area around the barrel and receiver could use shading or extra detail. I wouldn't think there's really room for it in XCF except for feeling like more gun porn.
I agree with the detail around the barrel and receiver. Unfortunately, there is only 3 or 4 pixels of width to play with, and only 4 or 6 shades of gray to provide the pixel art thing.
Maybe one day I'd redo the stuff, perhaps with a tan palette. Or someone is also welcome to improve the image.

No problem. I'm a bit of a (armchair) gun nut myself, thus sometimes the bug bites me and I decide to make a new real life one for the game. And if I'm lucky it gets featured in the XCF mod!
The G36 includes custom firing sounds "borrowed" from YouTube.
I'm a bit concerned with its aimed accuracy, but maybe it's OK.
The gun stats are almost identical to the M16. I'd argue the RL G36 is more precise in closer distance mostly due to the native integrated optics, but I prefer it to leave like that. In the game it's only advantage over the M16 is it's 1 unit lighter. The rest is just gun porn.
