Hello,

SupSuper said that i'm good in finding new x-com projects ;) This is another one of my finding:

It's game for pc and android. Currently it only runs on pc. There is beta version of tactical game available (for windows):

I've quickly (literally for 2 minutes) checked it and made couple of screenshots.

Game is 3d with simple (cartoon like) graphics, for now it looks like only battlescape is implemented. It's playable,  you can freely move camera, move units, shoot, die etc.

You can freely change window size, game scales to it.

Here's review after playing for a while (i was defeated :( ):

For now, game only has battlescape part, which can be tested. It's fully functionable, you can walk, shoot, kill, die, ai is implemented. There is only one area to test - farm. There or couple of different weapons (which is automatically equipped before fight) with different shooting models. Terrain is destructible and flameable. I've seen three different aliens during my fight.

It has simple 3d graphics, unit models are placeholders which will be replaced when author will find some help. Style of graphics is interesting, it has cartoony look. Camera is freely moveable, you can rotate it, zoom in, zoom out. Game is resolution independent, you can resize window and everything will be scaled.

A big plus for built in help screen which can introduce you to game. Another nice feature is when you select your unit, you will see his available range with infromation (green, yellow, orange circles) whether there will be enough time untis for reaction fire.

In my opinion, game looks interesting and has potential. I encourage to try it.

New release (svn 528)
Quote from project forum: ( https://xenowar.net/forum/index.php?topic=11.msg28 )
Quote
(Almost) New Year and a New Release!

Windows and Android, available at: https://code.google.com/p/unflobtactical/downloads/list

Lots of changes in this release. (Probably best to not go so long between releases.)

    * New Art! Although not final, the art now has the intended "look and feel".
    * Bugs fixed. Lots of crashes have been fixed, and automated testing is now part of the code base.
    * Civilians. Civs can be turned on, adding an element of tension to the mission.
    * Weapons re-worked. The weapon system is simplified. The terran weapons are now an Assault Rifle, Long Range, and Mini-Canon, each available at Tech-1,2, or 3. The strategic purpose is clearer while simplifying what you need to know. Weapon accuracy has been reworked, and the reported accuracy is now more correct.
    * (Some) Logos from the web site worked into the game.
    * Fast movement. Units you can't see move quickly, less waiting, and you can no longer tell how many aliens and civs are left.

Enjoy! Please share you thoughts and ideas.

r580 released

Out now! Ready for download. It's a big release.

    * Full levels. The farm, desert, tundra, and forest are all playable, each with Scout and Frigate class alien vessels. Also a city level and a Battleship.
    * Renderer now uses improved, smoother lighting.
    * Performance improvement. (Sometimes highly so.)
    * Many bugs fixed from testing.
    * Minor UI bug tweaks.

Enjoy! And as always, please submit feedback and report bugs. (Especially if you have trouble with Android 2.1. It should work there, but I can't test it.)

I'm looking from time to time, what's happening on svn. Author now implements geoscape. Looks like he also will implement ufos making crop circles ;)

Also, there is android paid version https://market.android.com/details?id=com.grinninglizard.UFOAttack

I don't like the "Lego style" graphic.

Yeah, they could use more details.

Game uses ac3d format https://code.google.com/p/unflobtactical/source/browse/trunk/resin/femaleMarine_D.ac

So maybe it's just a matter of finding some talented 3d artist who could (and would like) to create some better looking models.

For a programmer that does the art-work on the side, it is not looking that bad.
And low poly/detail models probably work better on mobile devices too.
