Experience / Promotion
« on: September 22, 2019, 05:25:32 am »
had a mission end after 1 shot at bushes (aborted, didn't wanna chase zombies though a jungle with pistols).
yet that one guy who shot a bush got promoted.
read the wiki about experience/promotions, tbh i think thats not really appropriate.
basically i could make my guys throw stuff around for fun and shoot up the whole place (regardless of any enemies) and they get stat increases like mad?
is there a possibility to change it to something less exploitable / more useful?
not gonna exploit that, but damn its tempting... (would be very boring and cheaty to do)

my idea would be a small flat bonus for any mission survived, acc increase on enemy hit, and totally not sure about the others stats...  :-\
(sry if this sounds kinda complainy... just kinda creeped out this loophole exists)

I'm pretty sure that the only way to increase your TU, stamina, hp, and strength, if to actually hit an enemy. Then the remaining stats grow based on actions. Throw stuff to gain throw, shoot enemies for accuracy, hit enemies with melee for melee skill. etc.

Promotions, as far as I can tell, have no connection to your stats at all. And have some sort of connection with panic. High rank people die and your troops panic more.

its not mentioned anywhere you actually have to hit an enemy.
probably enough if you hit what you aimed for.
my take on it is you don't even need to hit, just fire...

Test it. Pretty sure you have to hit

i think that happened already with "rookie getting a promotion over killing a bush".

Then make at least a second test to confirm your suspicion.

One unconfirmed accident is not a test :)

PS: soldiers don't get experience/stats for shooting bushes
PS2: rookies don't get promotions over killing a bush... all others can, e.g. a squaddie or a sergeant can be promoted for doing absolutely nothing

well turns our you´re right.
maybe that guy was not a rookie and got promoted for doing nothing.
(as someone working at a big corporation i can totally understand that...)
this topic seems to be void then.
