Changing the color of an exsiting terrain on globe.rul
« on: August 31, 2019, 05:16:08 am »
Hey guys, I understand the question has been asked before, but I use the search on the forum and can locate anything.
Does anyone know how to change the color of a terrain?

Say to Dark blue, light Blue, Cyan and purple?

It is just a simple answer hope some one can help.

Thanks.

By modding the terrain textures (TERRAIN.DAT).

Don't modify terrain.dat directly, use PNG images and extraSprites ruleset.
See any terrain mod how to do it.

Hi Meridian, thanks for the hint.  I thought there are terrains in globe.rul were a assigned a vales which dictates their colours.  If I can change their values it should change the colouring. From the map editor online, it can change colours to yellow and etc but blue.

Am I correct in my assumption or I am incorrect? I did experiment with the values assigned to urban and etc, the colour changes.

I don't understand.

Show me some examples.

The terrain textures are not just a single color... they use many colors.

Globe ruleset is described here: https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Ruleset_Reference_Nightly_(OpenXcom)#Globe

I am hoping for one colour, anyway, I will do some experiments tonight.  I have an idea how to sort it out.
