Btw, as someone who's picked the gold codex, the wiki is incorrect on the rewards which might also influence your decision.  You don't get 4 gold bars, you get 36 gold bars and a diamond for a total of ~1.8 million.  Which is basically about 100 apples but it's pretty nice to have :)

So, Officer's Outfit, Lash, and some gold?

Nice to stabilize cash-wise a bit, but was there anything else? We used to get a Flag, goddamit, making it the most beautiful, weird, statty, tactical-based option, but still having a bit of punch. If it's "just" a month or three of x-grog, and a feisty cap'n, it don't feel so good.

So, could someone give a listing of current Gold Codex perks?
(I'm honestly kinda fine with a laser-guided mortar commander/super stunner babe, that can also do killy-chop-suey, chokey, and shooty a bit. But perks are perks, and making it just be a bit of gold sort of sags my enthusiasm.)

Stright from the ruleset:
      STR_FUEGO_HULL: 1
      STR_CODEX_GOLD: 1
      STR_FLAME_CANNON: 1
      STR_GOLD_BAR: 36
      STR_DIAMOND: 1
      STR_SPACE_SUIT: 3
      STR_CLOTHING_OFFICER: 1
      STR_OFFICERS_BATON: 1

The last two are the Officers Outfit and the lash.

As I said before: biggest perk of gold in my opinion are the shadowtech craft. Turtle has the highes troop capacity, Shadowbat has good layout combined with decent speed and capacity, and the hawk is the best interceptor because it's the fastest shadowtech craft.

Especially the turtle with it's 12 troops + doors is something that will benefit you in every mission. Green also gets it, grey only has a capacity of 9 with the shadowbat and red has only 8 with the scorpion (or blowfish if you want doors). So you get to take three more gals than grey and four more than red. That's pretty good I would say.

It takes quite a long time until you unlock a craft that has more than 12 capacity + doors. The turtle will also get a speedboost later with shadowtech fusion reactors.

Another turtle hint: you can remove those annoying colored floor tiles that take extra tu to walk on with a pickaxe.

We call these soft tiles "pillows".

It hasn't been mentioned so far, but the Officer Outfit also allows you to take a Gal into the city missions that are usually forbidden for them. And a Gal can have a lot of fun at a spaceport. :D

The three space suits ain't too bad either. Handy for being a bit of an airhead, or when the water's cold.

So, I guess it isn't horrible, even if the flag (with bugs) will be missed..... Still, late-game goodness with psi options and outfits (magical girl wallhack and ghost stabbing), mid-game decent interceptors and transport, a couple of extra mission types regardless of tech and production (space/underwater), and a truly stunning captain to go out on the town with, or to visit her "friend's" mansions with, sounds pretty fun anyway.

You can manufacture your flag anyway, so what's to be missed? The change was because getting flag for free / from someone else was just not the right way to get it; you have to earn it.

True. And assuming the bugged behaviour reported above goes away, Gold gets a very nice flag indeed, so all the more rewarding for the effort.

Until then we'll just have to whip the gals into shape individually.
