Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!
X-COM has reportedly destroyed a newly rebuilt alien colony in the Java Sea, with a new flying submarine model that former SORESO head F. Denmann Williams has nicknamed "the Leviathan". X-COM forces once again took significant losses, but were able to successfully capture an alien commander according to Williams. Comittee Chairman Juan Gonzalez has already announced that X-COM may be nearing a breakthrough soon.
In other news, President Mead and Premier McNorth have recently begun steps to reintegrate Alaska into the US, especially in light of the increased frequency of joint patrols in the Pacific coast of North America. Analysts believe that this could be the first step in bringing peace to the Arctic, in the event the Second Alien War ends in victory for X-COM once again. Stay tuned for further updates!

Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!
**X-COM Commander:** Representatives of the Committee, citizens of Earth. I stand before you, not as the Commander of X-COM Project, not as a military officer, but as a citizen of all mankind. With blood, sweat and tears, humanity has once again emerged victorious. Of course, with the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Gulf, one would ask "at what cost?". No one said victory would be easy. There were many hardships, many losses and now, many families have lost not only their lives, but of those who still have them, they have lost their very lifestyles. For that, it is time to announce that the X-COM force sent to attack the alien city known as T'Leth....despite their success in achieving victory for humanity....may not live to see the world after.
**Director Williams (ret.):** As the Commander mentioned, the X-COM force that destroyed T'Leth, will sadly never see the world they helped create. Well, if you could even call it as such. As such, to the families of those brave soldiers, who gave their lives, so that mankind could live on, we share your grievances, and...now.....for a moment of silence for those who gave their lives, so that we could live on.
*the broadcast continues for two minutes as the Commander, former Director Williams, the Committee representatives, the reporters, news anchor and the viewers remain silent*
**X-COM Commander:** As the situation unfolds, it has become very clear that the world, despite being relatively safe once more, the need for X-COM remains. As the world changes and mankind, from this day, attempts to spread beyond our Solar System, we must protect humanity at all costs. Aliens will not rest, and neither will we. Perhaps you, the representatives of this Committee of Funding Organisations, may think of more pressing concerns like the one unfolding at this time. However, that same mistake is must not be repeated. We need the world on our side, and the world needs X-COM, for without it, the sacrifice of two wars...will have been for nothing. Thank you and good night.
*the broadcast ends*

X-COM has won. At great cost. Earth's environment lies in ruins, and the world is forever scarred by the Second Alien War. Humanity begins its expansion into the Frontier, but even at home, there are always threats, lurking and waiting. Aliens never sleep and neither does X-COM.
