Show your project
« on: August 15, 2010, 08:20:27 pm »
I suspect that there can be many ppl here which made some x-com related project. So, let's show that project to everyone - don't be shy ;)

I've created extractor program for Ufo: tts which extracts data (gfx, sound) from original game and save them under better format (like bmp) with some rescaling, rearranging etc.

Edit:

Show also your non x-com related projects :)

Ohhh, ohhhh, do I get to show my project too? ;)

Seriously though, this isn't my first time to the rodeo. I used to be part of Project Xenocide (technically still am but it's kinda inactive), and even tried to remake X-Com in Flash. Hopefully third time's the charm. :P

My favorite project always has been UFO:Cydonias Fall, the models really look nice and authentic.
Their goal is the same thing I wanted to do years ago with my project.
But there is not a lot of news, I don't know the current status if it.

Yeah UFO: Cydonia's Fall looks really nice, like a "3D HD remake" of the original. IIRC it was started by a former Xenocide member too.

I really like their music too, I'm a sucker for remade game music and listen to their stuff a lot when testing out OpenXcom (UFO: Extraterrestrials also has a great track). :)

Oh look, a thread for XCom projects!

I made a map editor and image viewer/converter awhile ago: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xcmapedit/files/

Welcome DaiShiva, really appreciate it you came by. We think the map editor can still be of use, since openxcom uses the oldskool file formats.

Hey all,

I wrote a saved game editor that does all the usual things: https://www.rubikscomplex.net/ufosge/

Feedback welcome!

Cool, may put some time into cleaning it up (or re-writing it if it will get used more now!)

we'll see... =)

DaiShiva? :o I thought you were dead! Well, not literally dead, just... vanished. :P

Your tools are pretty handy, glad to see there's still a site for them. I don't see XCView in there though.

Also, is it true you made an X-Com globe viewer at some point?

Everything is on the sourceforge page. The project is for the map editor, but XCView is under 'all files'.
Suppose I should introduce myself in the other thread eh?

I had made a globe viewer at one point, with the idea of making an editor around that. Don't know where that code went, I may be able to find it somewhere. I was working at a 3d printer shop though at the time and had one made:

Wow, I want one too!

I remember years ago when I was that much less knowledgable asking around how the hell would I reproduce the X-Com globe and people pointed me to you but I never managed to get in touch. And now one of the biggest debates is "how the hell do you reproduce the X-Com globe efficiently", so I guess some things never change. :P

X-Worlds!
« Reply #13 on: February 12, 2011, 05:21:40 pm »
Gee, might as well get in this party too!

I'm simply a modder that enjoys working on specific graphics & alternatives to the Original features of the first three legendary titles (UFOD,TFTD,APOC).

The easiest way for me to reveal all of these results is to simply provide quick links to the stuff and some splash screen; the latest being X-Worlds #06-A -- https://forums.galciv2.com/172808 -- for GCII.

But, now that i'm here and know about Open X-Com while keeping tabs on its potential & offering my contribution for Hi-Res elements... there's not much else to add than facts & reality.

Can't take away what's been done!
And hopefully, what will be done could squeeze smoothly into the design concepts of OX.
