Cybernetics - recovering from major injuries
« on: May 05, 2017, 06:43:56 pm »
Just a thought about a futuristic idea.  Since there are such powerful weapons that can blast holes in concrete wall, perhaps a future evolution is realistic wounds and the introduction of cybernetic replacements.  Perhaps its a feature that can be incorporated in a mod or some late idea.  If you take so much abuse to a limb, perhaps you should 'retire'/fire a soldier or consider partial or full robocop reconstruction.  Sort of fits in with that xcom 2012 mod about replacing healthy limbs with varying technological replacements.

Perhaps when your technology level is really high, then it becomes desirable to simply replace with new stuff.  You can use the 'wounding' effects to project how a superior limb will perform in terms of one handed rifle handling, and superior movement bonuses.

No, it's mechtoids. Just dump whatever was left of a gal into a can and hand it a plasma gun.

Didn't like the meld mechanic myself.  But maybe in the future a more advanced and longer tech tree would be nice.

One of planned OXCE+ features is assigning stat bonuses for commendations (like an accuracy bonus for having a commendation for difficult shots etc.). If we could also have a possibility of granting a soldier a commendation through manufacturing, we could have a "commendation" called for example Cybernetic Eyes that is normally available in the workshop and gives an accuracy or nightvision bonus.
Not exactly a "replace lost limb" mechanics, but I don't really believe in this idea anyway - too robust, too many questions to solve (before discovering cybernetics, you would have to fire many soldiers with permanent injuries preventing them from combat).

maybe you can keep dead soldiers on 'ice' until you get the tech to clone their brain from a plasma smear and stick it in a box.  In late game you can fit them into a fully reconstructed cloned body with nanite enhanced super strength stats.

Really late game, like 2300.

sure, but that's piloted by a fully functional human being, the dreadnought on the other hand is essentially a life support system with arms and legs... and guns.
