Bear cavalry? How cute.



So, Ratmen are my favourite early faction, so I spontaneously decided to give them something new. I'm not sure what this unit should actually do - it could be a better coordinated Reaper (more Reactions, maybe more TUs) or perhaps the rider could have some sort of shooting weapon.

I also wanted to give the Ratman a cowboy hat, but it doesn't fit in the box.

Reaper with ranged musket equivalent attack sounds nifty. Maybe spawn the rider when the mount dies ala armored beastmaster. Anything that adds more reapers is cool. Don't see nearly nuff of the fuzzies.

Yeah, but it wouldn't be recoverable, which is somewhat wrong.

Maybe spawn the rider when the mount dies ala armored beastmaster.

I actually thought the other way around - the rider dies and all that remains is the standard, pissed-off Reaper. Partially because the spawned rider would be weaponless, and therefore kinda sad.

Anything that adds more reapers is cool. Don't see nearly nuff of the fuzzies.

other way around works too, main point is to represent the 2 component entities.

Would a successful stun leave two bodies or just knock out the rider leaving a pissed off reaper to still deal with?

The unit is very nice! Do you happen to have a finished spritesheet?

Units that spawn other units are immune to all forms of stun (it always counts as lethal damage afaik); though you can probably mind-capture it.

YES, SOON MUTATED REAPERS EVERYWHERE. Well at the very least i might see more then a handful in a game. My near to final mission campaign's most irreplacable item is an elcetro whip. With pogroms off there is zero reapers. Trade guild and raiders are the only ones to field reapers and not on there ships. Trade guild use Marsec BG for terror unit slots on crafts. Raider dont have terror slots on there ships at all.

Yesterday I removed the reaper hide dependency on Electro Whip for that very reason.

Is the requirement coming back? :)

Anyway, while I'm not against adding one such unit to the Rodeo (it is a Rodeo after all :) ), the terrain is really hard to manoeuvre for such big, melee units. Ideally it would be some sort of a "terror" site, with a small village full of panicking Lokk'Naars and a group of several Reaper Riders slaughtering them left and right :)

Ahahah. Well, when will we see tamed chryssalyds?

Also, i think it will be better to spawn feral reaper when rider dies, not conversely.

I'd spawn a feral Reaper anyway. I know it's weird, but without it it's just not as much fun.
