[piratez] Naming the avatars
« on: December 30, 2015, 12:25:49 pm »
Hi everyone,

I made a GUI to change the gals' avatars conveniently, directly in the Inventory.

However, I am missing some good names... let your imagination run free and give me some suggestions ;-)

   7. Cherry
   8. Frosty
   9. Zoe
   10. Lynda
   11. Amber

I'm not sure about One Eye, I think there could be more one-eyed portraits in the future. And the Punk one... well, half of them are punkish. :)

I have a favor to ask, if that's not too much - I'd like #5 to be renamed to Nancy and #30 to Nastassia.

I'd suggest "Audhild" for 31.

A picture of the 16 new avatars that will be available from 0.97c on (#33 to #48). Place your order early!
(I think that those who already have avatars and wish to change to one of these, should be allowed to do so)

Names (first row 33-40, second 41-48, other names are up to community):
#33 - Ruby
#39 - Julia
#41 - Vicky
#44 - Rena

Nice ;-)

I like the one with the burning yellow eyes.

Can you also post gender/look/lookVariant for each new avatar, if you have them noted somewhere... if not I can figure it out after you publish the new version.

I thought it was unneccesary to note anything anymore since you wrote the avatar changing tool :) Better use that, all I can tell without much effort is that the first line are alt looks 4, and the second line - alt looks 5. I will definitely publish the new ver. a day or two before the next weekend so no worries.

The tool is currently hardcoded. I didn't find any logic between the avatar number (1-32) and the 3 components (gender, look and lookVariant)... seems quite random.

That also means the number of avatars is hardcoded... currently 32. I will need to add the new 16 manually.

I think the order goes like this:
male: Look 0-3
female: Look 0-3
(for a total of 8)

and is repeated for every lookVariant.

dark-skinned people are usually coded as 2 & 3 but this is just a convention, unimportant for the code. My mockup image is rather random, intertwining light and dark skin for aesthetic reasons, paying no attention to actual ruleset order.

Since the avatar limit is 128, I think it would be best to make the tool for 128 positions too (I know it's a lot, but oh well) and block the absent ones.

OK, so I have unhardcoded the number of avatars.
Now you can define in the ruleset how many lookVariants you are using in your mod.

There is a global variable maxLookVariant, which can be from 0 to 15:
 - maxLookvariant: 0    ... 8 avatars, vanilla xcom
 - maxLookVariant: 3    ... 32 avatars, piratez 0.97b
 - maxLookVariant: 5    ... 48 avatars, piratez 0.97c
 - maxLookVariant: 15  ... 128 avatars,  :-)

I had to use different numbers for the avatars, because yours were random.
New numbers are on the picture below.
I don't yet know the numbers for the new avatars, because I don't know their gender/look/lookVariant.

The translation should be updated like this, hopefully I didn't make any mistake:

Code: [Select]
