Rank images?

So I've changed the default rank images by modding SMOKE.PCK by extrasprites. However, this didn't change the rank images displayed in the Soldiers menu on the base. Is it possible to change them? And if, then how?

The SMOKE.PCK images are only used in the Battlescape. For the Basescape you want BASEBITS.PCK instead.
