FMP Battlescape Crash
« on: September 18, 2015, 10:46:02 am »
Hi all,

Long time lurker here.  You guys have no idea how much temptation I've resisted over the months to ask yet again for that 1.1 or 2.0 milestone.  :P  Many kudos to the OpenXcom team and all its modders.

Installed OpenXcom and a nightly recently, 2015_09_14_2114.  Smooth sailing, all of it.  Haven't played a game very long, though it runs flawlessly as far as I can tell, both geoscape and battlescape.

But I'm greedy and I have to have the FMP too.  I downloaded 1.7 and installation seemed easy enough.  I'm sure the mistake is mine, and it's probably something simple, but there's so few steps I don't know where I could have gone wrong.  FMP shows up in the mod list and geoscape still runs seamlessly.  I see all the new toys in the ufopedia.  I can buy them, equip them, drool over them.  But I get a CTD almost every time I open the battlescape.  The moment I finish equipping my squad it displays a single frame of the battlescape with an announcement that the autosave has failed.  When I click okay it closes.  I started a bunch of randomized missions with the New Battle feature and two of them began correctly and continued to run perfectly even a few turns in.  But 90% of them CTD immediately.

In all the similar threads I've read a mod conflict's been the root of the problem, but I'm running vanilla.  I even backed up and deleted my options.cfg file and enabled FMP with every other option left to its default.  No luck.  So I must have installed something wrong then, right?  But everything runs as it should without FMP and FMP works beautifully in geoscape.  So I'm really confused.  Any ideas?

Hi Mischief,

welcome to the forum!

You are just being very unlucky... that particular nightly build you are using crashes with almost all mods.
The issue was fixed already, one day later.

Upgrading to the newest nightly build should solve your problem.

Regards,
Meridian

Hey Meridian!

Just subscribed to your YouTube channel a few days ago.  I'm halfway through one of your Let's Play campaigns right now.

Thanks for the response.  I knew it had to be a simple mistake.   :-[  If I had just l looked back at the nightlies I would have noticed.
