Open your save file in text edit, go down to where it says
"discovered:"  This is your researched topics.
Add
  - STR_POLICE_SHIELD

to the list.

I know many people might frown upon it, but this is a single player game. I say play it out in 99% of cases, but if it's legitimately blocking your ability to progress, then cheat.

oh, thanks, but luckily got that damn shield from a megapol enforcere at last! (t was the only thing remainged to obtain byinterrogatory!!) so i coulkd progress onwards

Another update came out, just some observazions:

1) standard flintlocks deal 44 damage same as the handcannon and guns using the boarding ammo, but the latter ones are supposed to have more broader, larger and heavier rounds, so damage shuold be increased a little? eg 47 for the handcannon and for the boradin ammunition shotters 48/50?

2) same goes fot the kustom handcannon, it sould be a bit deadlier so increase damage form 44 to 47?

as for accuracy, the cited weapons seems good balanced, so it could be ok....just thinking  :)

That's what the scaling part of their damage profile does. At 100 bravery, handcannon deals 59 damage and boarding gun deals 54 damage, which quite a lot already.

oh i know but having the same damage on supposedly different ammo size was kinda bit unrealistic, i don't think it would be a problem givin some 2-3 damage points more to the weapons i wrote about, right? Otherwise, nevermind  :)

Lokk'naar legends speak of monster, the "Jolly Red Man". He smashes into hideouts intent on stealing sweets and alcohol only to disappear in a cloud of smoke. All that remains is a wooden talisman in the shape of a man. Inform the gals. Arm up. We must protect our booze.

The 'pedia's power rating for any given weapon is only part of the story. Things like stat scaling, armor modifiers and HP damage bonuses all contribute to the final performance of the weapon. This is meant to represent things more complicated than "big bullet do more damage". If you like, you can think of bravery scaling like the amount of nerve it takes to use a weapon to its highest potential. A big, black powder hand cannon with a lot of noise, smoke and recoil takes serious courage to keep on target and pull the trigger without flinching, which might throw off your aim and hit a less vital area.

A lot of the raw stats are meant to represent abstractions, and so they're complex for a reason. It diversifies the use case for various things. After all, if one thing was flat out, unconditionally better, we'd be forced to use it all the time or handicap ourselves. By adding various conditions, it makes our decision making more complex and gives us justification to try out more niche items and tactics.
