It's November 1999, Veteran Level.  I have 40 troops in power armor.  Once the grav shields get completed I won't be worrying about defense battles.

I usually don't make dedicated production bases - all my radar bases get some production.

is best to keep your entry point and hangar separate from the rest of the base and have one choke point  a cheap building like a small radar where you can hold you ground in base defenses. also keep all living quarters next to the choke point so you troops are close by

Yeah, Hellrazor's base is made for speed of construction, so it ignores some of the good security strategies.

I also tried to find an alternate configuration that was faster, but though I could get about half the production up sooner, overall production was one day later than his build.

How many days was your build, Hellrazor? 45?

Cheers, Ivan :D

It's build in phases, first General stores -> 10 Days
Then Living Quarters -> 16 Days
Then Workshops -> 32 Days
So all over 58 Days, but you get 6 Workshop parallel online with 250 Engineers and enough space to build any craft or stuff.

They main goal was speed and to get them online parallel, and also have it build in phases.

First phase costs: Access Lift (i usually build it in the Arctic so 950.000+4*200.000 = 1.750.000)
Second Phase: Living Quarters 5*400.000 + Hanger 200.000 +  Hyperwave 1.400.000 + Alien Containment 180.000 = 3.780.000
Third Phase: Workshops 6*800.000 + Living Quarters 2*400.000 = 5.200.000
Last two more Workshops 1.600.000

And then 12.500.000 for the 250 Engineers.
And then again 5.000.000 for another 100 Engineers.

I usually avoid shooting Craft down in the region were i build this base, to avoid retaliation, because there are usually no base defenses or Soldiers stationed. I will add a Mind shield later, and 2 Labs and a second Hangar, which is the usual layout.

Pops out an Avenger in 4,04 Days :D
