Regarding base defense skirmish mode, 3 questions

Regarding base defense skirmish mode, 3 questions.

1. Is map options suppose to be blank?

2. Is there a way to design my base in skirmish mode?

3. Why doesn't any drones appear? I put 2 rocket tanks on my avenger in the hopes they would appear.

Base defence in skirmish mode is pretty badly made. Giving 1 of every item is a particularly horribad idea. There should be some way to set base inventory.

you can make a mod that changes the startingBase enable it click randomize in new battle and select the basedefense

tanks will only appear if there are enough spawn nodes for them. by default your battle save will have more soldiers than can be deployed. you'd need to alter your battle.cfg save and reduce the number of soldiers in it. as for the layout, changing the "starting base" with a mod is simple, you can even copy/paste one from an existing saved game. as for bad implementation and horrible experiences with 1 of every item... it's a debugging tool, it's designed for functionality that _I_ need. adding one of every item is necessary because of mods, if a mod adds an item, it needs to be added to the base so that it will show up in the item list as allocatable to your craft. it's hooked up to be functional, sometimes things are necessary, no matter how horribad you perceive them to be.

The name in menu is "New Battle", not "Debug Mode, No Fun Allowed".

would it be a problem to just make it 50 instead of 1 as default value
so there is no real need to "equip" the craft ..?

While I understand Warboy's stance that it's a debugging tool, and that's how many people use it as well (pretty much all coders and modders), it is actually a fair point that it looks to a casual player like a game feature, not a debugging tool.
Perhaps it could be renamed to "Test Battle" or something?

50 may be a bit much (imagine the mess!), but how about 10?

there is no mess we have stacking numbers "1" or "50" does not make a mess

Casual player? I often play New Battles for fun. Also, base defence being a mess makes it worse for testing some stuff.

You can customize the New Battle contents in the battle.cfg to your heart's content. To have full control over the options you'd pretty much need a savegame editor so you might as well cut to the chase and treat it like one.

Why not just expand it into a game feature?

Not all of us would be able to muck around with a save game editor unless it was made for casual players.
