Thought I should try my hand at modding, plus it is good to contribute too, not just download. And I've always liked Personal Armor and I've missed some sort of tier 1.5 armor, so the question of what to mod was easily answered.

I admit I was a bit hesitant to create stat-boosting armor but the suits needed *something* that would make them a viable alternative to Power Suits.

Guess my next mod will have to be stat-decreasing Heavy Personal Armor.

Scout Power Armor - OpenXcom MOD

This my first attempt at creating an OpenXCOM mod, so the work is still a little rough.

The concept is armors that utilize Power Suit technology, are less tough than a Power Suit but offer some bonus instead. Basically upgraded Personal Armors that use alien technology to improve mobility too instead of just protection.

The sprites are based on recoloured personal armor, with a very makeshift helmet so I could get the first version finished and test it.

INSTALLATION
1.
unzip inside:
OpenXcom\data\

2.
Activate the mod from the "Options" menu, inside the game.

The mod should be compatible with most other mods out there so far.

NOTE: if you've installed the 0.5 version, remove it manually

Yes, but don't worry, research costs are quite low. The Power variant requires Power Suit and UFO Navigation, the second one's prerequisite is Flying Suit.

Hi, may it be possible there is a wrong sprite in a specific position for the scout armors (both power and flying) ?
See the arm when oriented south west

1st screen shot = power
2nd screen shot = flying

This would be nice to propose a direct link to the mod site included to your first post  ;)

Another question, hopping not to offense you : is there any reason for you to provide some GIF and other PNG files ? Why not all either GIF or PNG ?

As for the gif vs png, well, I like the png format more and I tended to prefer it *but* some of the pngs I've created led to buggy behavior and none of the gifs did, so I've switched mostly to gifs but haven't bothered to reformat the pngs. My second mod is almost exclusively gifs.

Any specific reason why should I investigate the matter and/or switch to pngs?

Hey liking the way this mod plays. Just wanted to say that the names of the item and ufopaedia entries are coming up as STR_SCOUT etc etc etc. Using Windows 7, 1.0 milestone build, and GB language. Any idea what might be going wrong? I'm a bit rubbish at working out errors!

Truth be told, it is missing *all* language versions but US.

A quick fix is renaming the whole section, simply change the code to this:
