Never got this message trying to assign a Tank/Cannon to a troop transport?
"Not enough HWP Cannon Shells to arm HWP"

"But I have already purchased these ammunitions!"
Yes, but not enough.

Display, near the HWP name ([need 30], [need 8] in this image), the minimum number of ammunition necessary to be able to use a HWP in the "Purchase/Hire Personnel" screen.

And also useful for all the available HWP mods for OpenXCom.

nah, I think it's fine that you have to buy tank and ammo separately. but adding the required amount to the "buy" screen would be nice, true. +1

The problem is if you have a clip with lot of ammo, and you only fire 1 or 2 times during combat, all the ammo in clip are lost, so it can be insane in some cases.

Yes, better to keep them separed.

You can easily do that by putting

STR_TANK_CANNON: Tank/Cannon(need 30)

under extraStrings: in a ruleset.  Problem is, then it shows up in the UFOpaedia in that manner because it uses the same string in both spots.  Haven't tried to manipulate it to see if you could create separate strings for these 2 things, but I suspect not unless the code is changed, which would then affect everything else.

It'd be nice, but it really is only a problem when you first jump into the game.  Once you've been playing a little while, it becomes second nature.  That said, I have seen Let's Play video where this has been a problem.

Yes, thanks for the tip.
The goal is to make the programmer(s) aware of this, so he/they can address this flaw if he/they want. It's always better to have a solution ready to use than to let/force the player/modder to adjust everything everywhere (also quite nice to be able to adjust/mod the game), but the new player can have trouble to understand why what he does do not work.

Yes, I also have seen let's plays where the player does not understand how it works.
Let's plays are great to find flaws in the UI.  :D

The vanilla game has, like, 3 tanks which require ammunition, and one of them has the Fusion Ball Launcher which uses home-made ammo.

Honestly, someone who can't remember two numbers, 2 and 30, should stick with Arcanoid. :P
