[SUGGESTION-CUT][#005] Why are you dead? (Fatal Wounds)

5) You did not notice that one of your soldiers was injured and he just die?

Show the number of Fatal Wounds next to the number of Health on the Control Bar. The yellow number flashes to attract the attention of player (Health "15", Fatal Wounds "2" (flashing yellow number)).

Sometimes there are some explosion or shooting but I do not recognize
what soldier was injured/killed

I will like a icon
red cross when exist at least a soldier with  fatal wood ,
a skull for soldier died
near icon could be the number of soldier

The icons could be on the right of weapon slot

The best was a clickable  icon for each soldier injured

how about this:
right side you have "i see an alien" icons
left side you get
black square - soldier died in the last round
grey square - soldier died in the second to last round
red square - soldier is wounded (medi kit needed)
purple square - soldier is mind controlled (click leads to last known position)
yellow square - soldier is panicked/berserk

Though I would prefer changing the yellow arrow colour to red for bleeding soldiers. A small number on the bottom menu might be hard to notice.

+1 for this suggestion. could still include the number, but a red selection-arrow would be nice. perhaps even a non-moving red arrow even if the soldier is not currently selected? something like "hey, look here, there's something wrong with THIS GUY RIGHT HERE"

This is an absolutely perfect idea.

my problem with the arrow or the wound in status bar is it would not help me much
i got my soldiers slowly bleeding to death while i ignore them
lets say i have 15 soldiers that attack a big ufo
map is free i post 4-5 strategically so no alien can escape through lift and the other 10 search the ufo
6 rounds later "Sam Smith dies"  :o what! .. yeah one of my watchers was wounded  :-\
but i never selected him to see any red arrow or wound number in status bar he was at that moment not impoertant and just stoodkneeled somewhere just in case

so a opposite list  right "i see an alien", left "i am panicked, wounded, mindcontrolled" would be way more usefull for me

that's why I suggested (or tried to suggest) that there should always be an arrow above the bleeding units. if the unit is selected, the normal "selected"-arrow is red, and if the unit is not selected, there's just a stationary red arrow.

Yes, but it could be confusing as to which soldier is actually selected at the moment...

Falko, if you leave a soldier completely unsupervised for multiple turns, you can't be surprised if he bleeds to death. :P

sure i can be surprised
i just cant be blameless :)
for normal rounds with 1-2 enemyhit, i am awake while playing, a soldier is near, i use the wounded soldier that bleeding to death this is never a problem in my case
and my WTF moment in regard to wounds is mostly something like that (happens occasionally but mostly i catch it after some rounds)
other player may have other reasons for missing they have a wounded soldier - and missing a wounded soldier is the whole problem that is trying to be "fixed" here
you can always go to the soldier statscreen and tab through al soldiers...
you dont NEED such thing but why not :)

how about this:
right side you have "i see an alien" icons
left side you get
black square - soldier died in the last round
grey square - soldier died in the second to last round
red square - soldier is wounded (medi kit needed)
purple square - soldier is mind controlled (click leads to last known position)
yellow square - soldier is panicked/berserk

When click leads to last known position apply all icons
it is Perfect!

I did not ay attention to your proposition
This is a good solution !

So, a combination of the suggested ideas in the thread.  :D

Red arrow over selected soldier when he is injured (Fatal Wounds). Yes!  :)

Colored icons depending the situation. Great idea!  :)

I added orange color to differentiate conscious/unconscious; and 2 "two states" buttons (with top/down direction arrows) to hide/show the "squares".

- Black square      - soldier died in the last round (can already the engine focus the screen to dead tile?) --> left click focuses the screen to position.

- Grey square      - soldier died in the second to last round --> left click focuses the screen to position.

- Orange square      - soldier is injured but conscious (Medi-Kit needed) --> left click focuses the screen to position.

- Red square      - soldier is injured and unconscious (Medi-Kit needed) --> left click focuses the screen to position.

- Purple square      - soldier is mind controlled --> left click focuses the screen to last known position, or to the position if the soldier is visible by another soldier.

- Yellow square      - soldier is panicked/berserk --> left click focuses the screen to position.

- Arrow squares      - allows to Hide/Show the XCom/Alien units squares for the current turn (for better visibility), automatically set to "Show" next turn.

Info about Fatal Wounds are displayed alternatively in the Control Bar (to avoid display problem for soldier with more than 99 Health points).  ;)

And, the mouse cursor arrow flashes from yellow to red when at least 1 soldier has Fatal Wounds (for players that don't look at every soldier every turn).  ;) :D

All of these can be set by the player for his playstyle and his convenience in option screen window:

Battlescape Screen.
-> Infos displayed on screen.
-> -> Red arrow over selected wounded soldier - "YES" - "NO"
-> -> Colored squares for states of soldiers - "YES" - "NO"
-> -> etc.

And with these options...
