-my overreaction was here-

Yeah, we all failed a spot check. Awkward.

Regardless, I wanted to update Final Mod Pack, I uploaded the .zip, then tried to download, and guess what? File not found! Exactly like it's been for the past 2 years! Such progress, much wow!

I'm going back to Mediafire. If someone can't download my file because of some problems with the service, go complain to Jo5hua.

Seems like we need "Reserve Mod Links" topic. I guess uploading all mods to Medifire or Google/Yandex Drive would be better option for everyone.

Wow, I didn't realize this had become such a problem. I've already been personally mirroring popular mods on openxcom.org (proudly boasting 99.99999% uptime!) since we often get asked about them on social media, so if anyone needs an alternate host and doesn't wanna use dodgy file hosting sites just PM me and I can host it.
If this becomes a necessity, I can work with NineX to give modders a more permanent solution like bigger attachments or a restricted FTP or something. Let me know what you think.

Since "Uploads and downloads are working again!" became an official slogan of mod portal, hell yes, we need some kind of alternative.

Yes, that would be much alpreciated. Some effort was made to provide an alternative, but in the end we don't have a server to store the files, so it was pretty futile.

Alright we've upgraded attachments to the 21st century. You can now have more files, more thumbnails, and more importantly: 100MB per attachment! Please use this power wisely.

At this time when I use the mod portal my files are 0 bytes.
Previously it was working.

Is this place just dead/abandoned?  I can't find a single mod page that has a downloadable mod anymore.  They're all broken links.  Even half the forum posts I've gone to have broken links.

The mod portal is pretty much dead, yes.

But the forum is alive!
Can you point to some of those forum links that don't work?

It's not dead, my abusive step dad is dead, but I am done grieving after a terrible year after the news. Thank you for your professionalism and witch hunt. The modsite will be fixed. I thought you were better. smh
