melee counterattack

I remember somebody talking about this, but I never saw it in action: a chryssalid just counter-attacked one of my guys, killing him! I didn't know this could happen for non-melee attacks, though: my guy was simply standing in an adjacent tile, firing his laser pistol at the chryssalid.

is that supposed to work this way? I think it's brilliant, but I simply never had the situation before :)

working as intended. :)

way back when the melee AI code was being put together, i had a saved game full of reapers around my skyranger, one of which was actually standing next to the ramp, facing it.

they felt slightly impotent just letting my soldiers march past their noses and poke them in the face with stun rods, so i did something about it.

Warboy you mentioned several times in GIT updates that you are indeed doing a lot about melee and it seems the new AI has become a masterpiece!
