question about rules files
« on: May 05, 2025, 12:19:11 am »
So I've been doing some light editing in the X-com files here and there, music swaps, name updates, things like that. Most everything responds like expected, except for 2 things: The AI names were all edited to be 100% upper case, and sometimes AI units are spawned with allcaps names, other times they are spawned with normal cap names. I would've said it was 50/50 but I had a line of allcaps name being spawned one after the other, so I don't even know.

Second, I tried to make some minor and major changes to the Soldier Rules file (soldiers_XCOMFILES.rul) and that doesn't seem to change anything at all. Is there like a core change file or something?

Are you making a submod, or editing XCF files directly?

I thought I was editing XCF directly, I don't know nearly enough to make a submod.

As a simple test I tried to edit the soldier cost to make it $696969, and no dice.

My only idea at the moment is that you have multiple copies of XCF active. Please check that (including .zip folders).
