(QoL) Loading inventory doesn't do anything if there's no saved template

A problem I'm constantly running into when using S and L for soldiers: if a soldier has no template saved, and I press L to load their template, all their equipment is removed. This is very annoying, because then I need to manually load every single item - weapons, grenades, meds, etc. - and then save it with S to make sure it doesn't happen again for this character.
I would appreciate if loading inventory with L didn't do anything if there's no saved template (the soldier keeps the same equipment).
