How to Run Xpedia and where to find more Xpedia resources
« on: November 29, 2024, 02:02:31 am »
I've been trying to get the Xpedia zip to run that comes with the game since the word on the street is that the online wiki is a little out of date. I have not been able to get it work and I couldn't find any major links to troubleshooting for it on the forum so im asking it here since it comes with the mod

I've tried putting the xpedia2 folder in my OpenXcom directory and the modding directory like it suggests and It seems to have worked but got stuck parsing data and when closed an reopened it says retrieving cache followed by parsing data forever again. I'm on windows and i'm not sure if I haven't been patient enough or it its having trouble somewhere, What do?

XPiratez works great though and is always fun to play
Please let me know if there's a better place to suggest these things or If you've had similar issues, Thanks!

Yeah I have no idea how to manually compile these things either, luckily someone already did the work.

Vengos compiled a new xpedia into an html file, place this into the main game folder so that it can read the pictures. Then you can open the file using a browser or open a new tab in an existing browser window and then drag and drop the file onto it.

The one on my Info Comp/Starter Guide thread is also up to date; but yes usually someone will compile it on the main release thread as well.

I did see that and I did try to get that to work but I wasn't able to convert the document into an html file to use. I like your post a lot tho, sometimes it's hard to get tips for playing on the forum so its a great resource!

I downloaded the file, slapped it the file with TFTD and UFO and it works great, Thanks! Ill be on the lookout for new compilations the next time the game updates.

Literally click the arrow in the top right when it comes up on google drive, will save it as a html. :P

Glad you like the guide. :)
