Soundpack Problem
« on: July 19, 2023, 10:51:45 pm »
Hello Guys!

I tried to install the "XCOM-Remastered" Soundtrack, but i think im literally too stupid.

First of all:
I dont know in which folder i have to extract them.
The OpenXcom one? The original Steam-Version?

I also tried to extract it to both of them and i also used the FLAC format, but the game seems to be locked into ADLIB and when i delete ADLIB, it´s forced to MIDI.

However.. none of the sounds are played and the guide "data/SOUNDS" lacks a little bit in explanation.

PS:
I also deleted the MIDI Files but even then the Game keeps playing the MIDI Files even when they don´t exist anymore in the folder.

Can anyone help me plz?

Thats exactely what I also wanted to know...
I downloaded:
Cydonias Fall Soundtrack + UFO Original Remastered, both with FLAC files.

I tried this solution I found here in the forum but it doenst work for me:
1. You can either put the OGG/FLAC/etc. files into the original SOUND subfolder (in the UFO folder).
2. Or you can package them as mods, with the following structure:
    <openxcom user folder>/mods/YourModName
    <openxcom user folder>/mods/YourModName/metadata.yml
    <openxcom user folder>/mods/YourModName/SOUND/<put all sound files here>

Does anyone know the solution to this?
I use the latest Nightly Build.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know how useful it can be, I haven't installed the OP music pack.

An example of a sound mod pack is here:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/x-piratez/downloads/vdbombers-music-pack-for-xpiratez

Inside the downloadable zip file there are several .yml files. The structure of said text files is easy to follow. Just replace the files.

If more insight is needed on ruleset files, this is the best place:

I think I#m just to stupid for this... :-(
The soundtracks use exact the same file names as in the original CAT files.
I checked that in the Wiki.

The mod is shown in mods menu and can be activated but nothing changes...

I#m helpless... :-[

If you can see the mod within OXC, then it's presumably on the right folder for mods.
As per why nothing happens, mods are loaded in order, so the mods at the end are loaded last.
Can you provide the following just to be sure?
  - a screenshot of the mod screen
  - url of the mod package you wish to run

There are the mods:
https://mod.io/g/openxcom/m/ufo-cydonias-fall-flac-music
http://sycraft.org/content/audio/xcom.shtml

I actived (of course only one at a time and put them in first placer of the mod order.
All other mods are deactivated at that moment.

Possible solution:
I tried to use the OGG version of both mods which seems to work...
Strange...

Perhaps it's a file compatibility issue. OGG files are usually compatible for music in OXCE. Other formats may not be fully supported.
