Semi related:
While in an actual campaign the loadouts work fine for me, when I use the quickbattle, the soldiers will always go back to the auto-loadouts and don't remember how they were equipped at the beginning of the last quickl-battle. The gear itself is remembered correctly.

For example if I give them 14 lasers and 28 grenades, they'll pick a laser and grenade each but don't equip addional grenades. So same as in campaign. But in campaign the soldier remembers once I've given them more stuff.

Oh, and another thing:
When you use ctrl+click to equip stuff, it usually follows a distinct logic, which I think could be improved on.
1st is main-hand, then belt, then backpack then additional slots.

I think: If neither the item in the main-hand nor the item to equip requires 2 hands to be used without penalty, the new item should first go into the 2nd hand.
And after that it should go to the next fitting part of the equipment-screen with the lowest TU-requirement. Which means that backpack would be last for 1x1-items.
This would make equipping via ctrl+click a lot more convenient.

please use a new thread for unrelated issues, and also for semi-related issues

ESPECIALLY if you see that the thread was created by a new user... the poor new guys are always confused to oblivion when people start mixing in "random" stuff

Yes, that's how it works in OpenXcom since the beginning.

Don't know if it's a feature, bug, missing feature, oversight or something else.
My guess would be "something else", for example "it's good enough for a debug feature like quickbattle".

It shouldn't be too hard to implement.

Yes, the only issue is that everybody has a different opinion about how the improvement should look like.

One possible implementation with a PR is here: https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,7868.0.html
